|

Jackie McNamara Partick Thistle newsFormer Celt Jackie McNamara has been appointed as interim manager of Partick Thistle.

Ian McColl’s resignation earlier today has given McNamara his first opportunity in management where he will be assisted by Simon Donnelly and Ian Cameron.

A statement on the Thistle website read: “There are five games to play between now and the end of the season, five games in which the new management team will obviously be keen to make a real impact.

The first of those five games comes tomorrow afternoon when we host Ross County at Firhill.

We would urge as many Thistle fans as possible to make it along to Firhill tomorrow and really get behind Jackie, Simon and Ian as they aim to make a winning start in their new roles at the Club.”

Thistle are currently sitting in sixth place in the First Division but have failed to mount any real promotion challenge.

There are two other former Celts managing in the First Division- Barry Smith at Dundee and Steven Pressley at Falkirk.
