James Keatings Just Can't Get Enough

|

James Keatings Celtic newsJames Keatings took his goals tally to 25 for the season as Celtic hammered Kilmarnock 6-0 today.

The Scotland u-19 striker scored in each half to notch his 20th and 21st SPL goals to add to the four that he’s scored in the SFA Youth Cup.

The win lifted Stevie Frail’s side into second place, ahead of Rangers on goal difference, but trailing leaders Hearts by four points.

Celtic have three games in hand on the Edinburgh side and complete their campaign with a visit from Hearts on April 30.

April is going to be a make or break month for Celtc’s double hopes with Frail delighted by the way his side applied themselves to see off Kilmarnock.

“It was a great performance,” he admitted. “We played well in horrible conditions and scored some great goals.

“We started off at the right tempo and that’s very important. We missed a couple of early chances but once we got in front midway through the first half the result didn’t look in doubt.

“When we arrived the conditions were fine but after 20 minutes it was pouring of rain and never really stopped, at one stage I was worried if the game would be completed.

“There are a lot of games coming up this month, there’ll be a few Saturday and Tuesday matches coming up but all we’re thinking of now is Saturday’s match away to Hamilton at Linlithgow.

“It’s been hard for us to build up momentum with so many games called off but hopefully we can take a lot of confidence from today into the Hamilton match.”

Keatings and Callum McGregor put Celtic in front at the break with Keatings, captain Matty Hughes and substitutes Islam Feruz and Patrik Twardzik scoring after the break.

In today’s other results Hearts won 3-1 away to Inverness Caley Thistle while St Mirren beat Rangers 2-1.
