Paul Slane Celtic news Forgotten winger Paul Slane made a welcome return to action yesterday as Celtic’s development squad beat Blackpool 1-0.

The former Motherwell man missed the whole of last season with a cruciate injury but has now completed his rehabilitation.

Slane was a surprise substitute in last week’s Europa League qualifier against Sion and enjoyed an injury free return to action yesterday.

The 19-year-old made three substitute appearances for the Motherwell first team before transferring to Celtic in January 2010.

I was really pleased with him,” Stevie Frail, who is working alongside Danny McGrain with the development squad, told the official Celtic website. “He was positive but got tired obviously in the second-half and found it a bit harder to get going.

“So we made the decision to take him off after about 60 minutes as we didn’t want him to pick up any other injuries.

“But that’s a good hour he’s had and although he’s fit and training, playing in a game is totally different, so that game-time will do him a lot of good.”

Paul George scored the only goal of the game in the 53rd minute.
