Daniel Majstorovic Celtic news Daniel Majstorovic believes that the Celtic players owe their fans the SPL title.

The Swede was red carded in the first minute of last night’s Europa League tie with Sion as Celtic crashed out of the Europa League at the play-off stage.

Celtic’s decline in Europe has shocked the fans who face a second successive season of domestic only action that looks certain to hit the club in the pocket.

Next season’s Champions League qualifiers seem like a lifetime away but Majstorovic knows that the players can’t afford another slip against St Mirren on Sunday.

He said: “We owe the fans the SPL title this season. There is nothing more to do.

“Being out of Europe means it is even more important that we go on and become champions. That is very clear.

“We need to try to get rid of this feeling as soon as possible but we have an important SPL game against St Mirren on Sunday.

“All the boys will be hurting for a couple of days but we need to be professional and keep on going. We don’t want any more slips.

“After the game on Sunday against St Mirren we have an international break so we want to go into that with a good result in the league.

The defender added: “Everyone in the squad is disappointed because this is a big club and we need to be playing in Europe.

“A club like Celtic should always be on these stages so it is hard for everyone.”

2 words, F— off danny, u and your mates are a laughing stock, This club is being dragged through the gutter, time for total redirection, players and manager for that matter not nearly good enough.

James 100% correct Lennon & Co just can’t cut it, title gifted last year, and losing to a non entity of a team in Europe is a joke, too many times his teams bottle it, castigating players is all very well, but the buck stops at the management , time for total clear out, top to bottom.

I think big Dan should keep his head down for a good few weeks. We’re going to have to improve a lot to win the title. We’ll be lucky to get second the way things are.

NL is struggling. His tactics and his players let him down- everytime there is something on the line. Most of our players are mediocre, and the top ones like Kayal and Hooper are over rated.

The one excuse for NL is that he was sh*t on from a great height by PL and the board this summer. A rookie manager given a bit of cash in his first season, then nothing in his second. Even Alex Ferguson cant build a good team in one season. The pathetic wasters on the board strike again. I’m sure they’ll be quite happy to let NL carry the can. It’s never their fault.

Oh, and who was the genius that decided that Feindouno wasn’t Celtic class. PL and his wee purse, no doubt.

No fake names this time, no snide comments. SHUT UP DAN, THE SHIRT DOESN’T SHRINK BUT WITH YOU IN THE TEAM THE CROWD AT HOME GAMES CERTAINLY WILL. YOU ARE THE EPITOMY OF A LOST CAUSE AND THE POSTER CHILD FOR SH#TE CONTINENTAL DEFENDERS EVERYWHERE. HOW TO YOU SAY “GO HOME” in SWEDISH YA F#CKIN LOSER.

  • Willie Aitkenhead says:

A good manager gets the best out of his resources, our wage bill will dwarf that of Sion, Braga, Utrecht etc.

Giving good money to bad players is the responsibility of the management. If these are the best players we can find then someone needs booted NOW.

We are clueless, lacking in any semblance of a true team, no spirit and for Lennon to say we were excellent is beyond comprehension. Against Ross County he told the truth now it seems he can’t believe what his eyes see or want to accept it. The first step towards rectifying the major problems is to accept we have them….over to you Lennon.

  • Rab McGough says:

All the way back to Ross County – remeber that – couldn’t pull it out against them. No way Neil your time is up and take the Greek Jesus with you.

I am sick to the back teeth of hearing Celtic players waffling on about what they ‘owe’ the fans and then continually failing to deliver. Majsorovic should just be keeping his mouth shut for a bit and hopefully preparing for a season as a back up player.

As for the criticism of Lennon; steady on. I don’t think there is any question of his commitment but – as has been said elsewhere – I don’t feel he’s being properly backed by the board.

We knew about his inexperience and we were happy to have him and we need to persist with him not just enjoy the highs and then call for his head during the inevitable periods when the chips are down.

  • greenjedi says:

He owes the fans his resignation, as do quite a few of his mates.

In scottish football’s current financial state, A scots team will never reach the champions league group stages again. Our co-efficient gets worse and worse making it harder and harder to qualify for group stages of these tournaments.

  • stevie mcceltic says:

Lets not go over the top here..what do we expect?

The manager is given no money to sign quality..im also fed up reading the players comments saying how much they will do for the team, we dont need another garry caldwell (celtic spokesman who couldnt kick his own arse)..we also dont need rangers fans pretending to be celtic fans just to have a go at our manager who they detest.

We are going through a sticky patch but i feel Lennon will get it right..title is everything as it means straight access to 18 million

“We are going through a sticky patch but i feel Lennon will get it right..title is everything as it means straight access to 18 million”

we get straight access to champs league if we win the league this year?

  • david deans says:

Sorry but we need an experienced coach to take us forward. Lennon cost us the title at Inverness last season, and its down to his tactics that we are out of Europe.WE have needed a top striker for a long time now, i have stated on various web sites that stokes, hooper and samaras will not score outside of the SPL.Unfortunatly now i cant see any striker worth is salt coming now we are out of Europe. I must say that goes for the team in govan as well. Rookie managers at this level are no good.Forget trying to get through on a tecnicality we are noy worth place in the next round.

  • greenjedi says:

The manager has signed 3 RBs and re-signed another one, while letting the best RB at the club go on a bosman.

The manager continues to play and give new contracts to Samaras & Brown

    The manager signed Mastorovic

The manager put players on the pitch last night that where not fit.

The managers tactics have been badly exposed over the past few games and against ICT at the end of last season.

    • jebus says:

the manager never let hinkel go the board did, he wanted 20k a week and they see that as a drain on there balance sheet so they just werent interested

      • greenjedi says:

Its the Managers job to demand to the board that players stay if he wants them

        • jebus says:

yes but its the board who sanction the spending.

exactly reason why we have only spent 900k, i would put money on it lennon has asked for funds and been told no!!

  • chiefinkorea says:

Will Celtic players ever learn when to shut up?

The blame must be shared by everyone – board, management, players.

I’m not shouting for Lennon’s head but he can’t be given carte blanche either. He hasn’t been heavily backed financially but he did sign 8 of the 11 starters – Ki, Sammy and Brown being the exceptions. However, he has given Sammy and, by all accounts Brown, new deals so we can conclude they are his players too. Of the bench, Stokes, Commons and Matthews were also signed by him. That’s 11 (or 13) of the 18 listed. It is his team!!

Admittedly, those 11 were not very expensive. If Dan was free (can’t remember if there was a small fee involved) then the whole back four and keeper have cost nothing. That said, he believed in their ability so it is reasonable to expect them to compete with a mid-table Swiss team.

Tactics and reliance on Sammy in bigger games are a worry. Rememeber, last night could have been very different if we’d done better in the first leg.

Sunday will show us if Lennon and the players are up for this. And, the next 5 days will let us know if the board are. I don’t expect heavy spending but with the carrot of automatic qualification for next years CL group stages it will be interesting to see if they “gamble” on getting a few payers in.

  • paranoidandroid says:

I think I got carried away with the good feeling brought about by NL’s appointment last year. But now I feel that I was wrong to accept a rookie manager so easily. The board took the cheap option, and I was fooled into going along with it.

I still back NL 100%, not because I think he’s a good manager, but because I think he needs my support, now more than ever.

If anyone on the board actually cared about NL as a person, they would have sent him off to the lower leagues for a few years to learn how to be a good manager, with a view to bringing him back in the future. But, unfortunately, the board are greedy, arrogant, parasites who dont give a toss about anyone. Their lack of support for NL this summer is absolutely disgusting.

It’s obviously hindsight, but managing Celtic is no place for a rookie. However, we’re stuck with it, and NL needs our support.

  • david deans says:

I have been a supporter and follower of Celtic, since the day my father use to lift me over the turnstiles to watch the famous Lisbon Lions when i was just a wee boy. I cant beleive i am now witnesing Stoke,Fulham, and even Birmingham in the championship who have lost most of there players, rated higher than the Famous Glasgow Celtic. Its a sad sad day for football in Scotland. Its going to be a long road back.
