Craig Thomson Celtic newsCraig Thomson will referee Sunday’s Hearts v Celtic match- the third time running that he’s been in charge of the Tynecastle fixture between the clubs.

Thomson has also been in charge of Celtic’s last three SPL visits to Ibrox highlighting the limited pool of referees available to take charge of the most high profile fixtures.

The last time that Celtic played Hearts Neil Lennon was attacked by Hearts supporter John Wilson.

On the pitch Kris Commons received a second yellow card for celebrating Celtic’s third goal with the fans behind the goal having earlier been booked for ‘simulation’ following a heavy challenge from Ian Black.

In November Joe Ledley was given a straight red card for a foul on Black with Lennon sent from the technical area for protesting after Thomson had missed a penalty box handball by Ryan Stephenson.

Tomorrow night Thomson will take charge of the CSKA Moscow v Inter Milan Champions League match.

Celtic’s Europa League match against Udinese will be refereed by 39-year-old Bülent Y?ld?r?m from Turkey.

Will this crap never change Thomson is a joke of a ref why do we need to suffer these continual (honest mistake) appointments.

No wonder Scottish teams fail in Europe the Scottish refereeing system works intirerly different from the rest of Europe. Naismiths elbow in the Rangers game in any other league that’s a red card in Scotland play on.

  • Rich says:

Seriously need to stop whinging about refs. Its tiresome.

  • baxterboy says:

may i remind you of the penalty decison he gave at ibrox last season on stokes – the worst call in the history of scottish refereeing considering the circumstances – one that could have determined the outcome of the league flag.
and you think rangers supporters want this ref or that he favours us_ this fact ? not on your nelly duff.

“the worst call in the history of scottish refereeing”

Aye right. There’s been plenty of calls that have been worse, oh and every single decision can determine the destination of a league flag, whether its against Celtic v Rangers or Rangers v Dunfermline say, when a player who should have been sent off goes on to score two goals that could be crucial if a title goes down to the wire and is decided on goals scored. Every game every bad decision counts.

Worse than Collum giving a penalty to Rangers when he had his back to the incident? Fortunes perfectly good goal disallowed? Brines looking straight at Naismith while he elbowed Mccann in the face and doing nothing? Every decision ever made by Mccurry and Dallas during an Old F**m?

Ref, baxterboy you have named one apparent error against you, we dont have the time to name all wrong decisions this clown has made against us….end off. Hail hail

  • Rich says:

Thomson is a good ref. End of, we lost the league all by ourselves last year. We could lose it this year again as the board have not done their job. 800k net spend on yet another “Project” player… utter garbage.

    • bhoylondon67 says:

Thompson is ok, not a great ref but ok, i don’t think he is particularly bias to be fair, maybe the SFA feel the same and don’t trust other referees, after the last few seasons of cringe worthy bias even they can’t let it continue so blatantly.

    Dear All,

    1. Get video footage of “honest ” and dishonest mistakes.

    2. Edit these onto one medium.

    3. Send to UEFA

    4. Keep doing it until UEFA take notice and officially investigate.

    5. Persist

I have always wondered WHY teams like Dundee Utd,Hearts,Aberdeen,ICT NEVER complain in any determined way about the Ref’s Loyal (do take a bow Messrs Collum,Norris etc.

    • bhoylondon67 says:

Occasionally someone will have an outburst when their teams are openly cheated, Terry Butcher, Craig Levein and Jim Jeffries have all said there is known bias in favour of Rangers.

Also Bertie Vogts said in his autobiography that Tommy Burns would have been given the Scotland job after him as manager if he was a Rangers man.

  • Martin says:

Stop moaning about refs it’s getting embarrassing.

Thomson and Murray are our two best refs I’m much happier with him than I would be with the likes of Collum, Winter or Norris who are hopeless.

People bang on about (honest mistakes) Thomson gave us the dodgy pen at ibrox that sammy missed did he not? He could have sent mulgrew off in the cup final and didn’t…

He’s not biased and he’s not bad either.

    Give the guy a break!

    • STEVIEC says:

I wont stop banging on about honest mistakes until other teams (wonder who that could be) start to lose points due to honest mistake.

I don’t trust any Scottish official, let them tell the Scottish public why they went on strike last season.
