Kenny Dalglish Liverpool newsThe amazing miss by Fernando Torres during Sunday’s Manchester United v Chelsea match has brought attention to some of the ‘best’ misses of all time.

Peter van Vossen, Chris Iwelumo and Ronnie Rosenthal have all been given notable mentions but the You Tube archive have uncovered a Torres style miss from Kenny Dalglish which was also in front of the Stretford End.

Back in the days of unsponsored kit, muddy goalmouths and change from a fiver for a seat in the stand Dalglish had opened the scoring only for Micky Thomas to equalise for a Manchester United side featuring Joe Jordan, Gordon McQueen and Lou Marcari.

One minute and 14 seconds into the video clip below Alan Hansen takes out the entire Manchester United team with a careful chip and races in on goal with Dalglish running from deep in support.

Confronted with Gary Bailey in the home goal Hansen rolled the ball left to Dalglish who managed to sclaff his shot round the post- Torres style.

Other than a nightmare afternoon for Harald Brattbakk at Dunfermline a few years ago I can’t recall any Torres style misses from a Celtic player.
