Rangers boss Ally McCoist is considering an appeal against Lee McCulloch’s red card against St Mirren.
The former Scotland star was given a straight red card in the 23rd minute by referee Stevie McLean which will rule him out of Wednesday’s visit to Celtic.
Defender Doran Goian was also sent off for two jersey pulling offences but it’s McCulloch’s red card that McCoist is considering appealing against.
“We will have a look at it again in the next couple of hours and decide whether we are going to appeal,” the Rangers boss told Sky Sports after today’s match. “I’ll have a chat with Lee but it’s a distinct possibility.
“There is no doubt it changed the game. The ball actually went into the back of the net as well, which a lot of people maybe forget, so it might have been 2-0.
“I’ve seen it once and I would have to say it was extremely harsh. I’ve had a good chat with Lee McCulloch and he assures me there was no malice at all and he was just trying to fend the boy off. The boy actually had an arm around his waist.
“I’m a wee bit disappointed with how the boy went down to be honest with you and no physio came on to my knowledge.
“It changed the game, there is no doubt about it, and we are disappointed with it.”
Former Celt Paul McGowan scored the winner for the Paisley side after Aaron Mooy had cancelled out Lee Wallace’s opener.

Questions need to be asked before one of Mcoists players seriously injures someone. Great day at the office for the Bhoys, there will be a few glum households this Christmas, Lennons won’t be one of them! Hail Hail, thanks for the early Christmas present Ally.
oh I wish it could b christmas everyday!! Lol u all hear sally mc moist is trying 2 get his tv career back on track………..he’s applied 4 the job presenting 15 to 1 HH
What the hell is going on here? Rangers with 2 sent off and a goal disallowed. Is this the start of things evening themselves out? Am I really seeing this?
Ha ha ya fat balloon big elbows nearly took the guys head off is he trying to call the st mirren player a cheat and a liar like aluko ? Oh how we laugh at the fat game show host. Am sitting on a rig in the north sea with a big smile and the buns are seathing lol merry Xmas bhoys
I didn’t see it, no seriously, I didn’t! This is me talking, not McCoist. But I do know that McCulloch is a cheat and has a history of using elbows. I always remember his dives in games against us in the past. McCoist will appeal, that isn’t in question. He will need his elbow skills and cheating antics on Wednesday even if hey do have the ref of their own choosing, the hugh dallas mini-me.
Fat Ally has gained 6 points in recent weeks on the back of dubious decisions that went against Dunfermline and ICT.
Gollum will do his upmost on Wednesday to re-address the balance.
Great day today.
Hail Hail
I bet it appears on QOS as a what happened next… Seriously no one will guess a rangers goal was chalked off and a rangers player took a walk, all in the same instance… GIRUY! Only want one Christmas present this year and that’s a win on Wednesday to tale us to the title in may!
Rangers were diving & sticking boots and elbows in as usual today, they’re desperate!
Sally was all over the place when interviewed, the rattled rager!!
Big performance needed on Wednesday to nail
…the advantage home!!
As I told my Rangers fan friend, there is a reason we call him elbows McCulloch, guy has been getting away with these acidental elbows for years
