Ally McCoist ban newsIt seems that Ally McCoist will escape unpunished by the SFA for his angry rant following the failed appeal against Sone Aluko’s two match suspension for diving.

The Rangers boss appeared before the SFA’s Fast Track tribunal last Thursday and slammed the competence of the panel chairman Jim McCluskey and compliance officer Vincent Lunney after they stood by the two match ban.

Speaking to the Rangers website McCoist didn’t hold back as he criticised former FIFA referee McCluskey, as well as Lunney.

“The meeting was chaired by a former referee and I have to say his decision making hasn’t improved any since he stopped refereeing,” the Rangers boss told his club website.

“The three gentlemen on the panel have effectively called my player a cheat and a liar, neither of which he is.

“What they’ve effectively done is they have said the player has cheated to get the penalty.

“It’s an absolutely incredible decision given that the referee is literally five yards from the incident.

“He has a better view than anybody in the stadium and they have gone not only against the referee but the player as well.

“The thing that stuns me is that the panel agreed there was contact so for them to uphold the decision and go against their own referee, who had a particularly good game, is ridiculous.

Switching to Lunney McCoist added: “The other thing I would like to point out is the compliance officer is a thoroughly nice man but he is a lawyer, he comes from a legal background not a football one.

“So effectively we’ve got someone who hasn’t played professional football telling me my player is a cheat.

“It’s staggering, absolutely staggering and to say I’m angry would be a massive understatement.”

Tellingly McCoist also claimed: “It seems to me that there are rules for some and rules for others.”

Dunfermline manager Jim McIntyre was hit with a two match touchline ban for his comments about Steve Conroy’s decision to award the penalty.

Yesterday the SFA offered Hibs striker Leigh Griffiths a one match suspension after he was caught by ESPN cameras aiming a gesture at the Rangers support during Saturday’s match at Easter Road.

Since McCoist made his comments two days before the Griffiths incident it seems that the SFA have chosen to ignore the outburst from the Rangers manager.

With Hibs successfully appealing a two match suspension for diving issued to Garry O’Connor the new style disciplinary system is certainly having it’s teething problems.

The O’Connor and Aluko incidents seemed very similar and yet attracted different punishments while McIntyre was hit with a touchline ban for comments less critical than McCoist’s outburst against two SFA officials.

  • Another clear case of double standards.

All change at the SFA my arse still the bigoted mob just different faces.
Over to the referees for some strike action if they’ve got any integrity that is.

I think there is still some way to go in making the SFA more honest, accountable and fair. Last season Lenny highlighted dishonesty with refs by having the temerity to ask for an explanation of a decision.

The refs go on strike claiming that critcism must stop. Instead of being applauded for exposing the dishonesty, Lenny gets abuse from all sections of the media and blamed for the strike.

This season Fat Sally calls SFA employees dishonest and blames everyone except the cheat Aluka, and it looks as if it will be ignored by the SFA and the media. Imagine if it had been Lenny.

I think that the SFA are still more even handed to some clubs than they are to others, if you get my drift.

Are we really surprised? Sally & the Butcher have license to say whatever they want without any repercussions.

    and we are surprised because………………………???????????????

I think in this instance the SFA have unwittingly done the right thing. Mcoist was hoping to get a ban.

He is aware of the reaction and support Lennon received from our fans last season when Lennon and our club was being demonised and treated completely different to everyone else. He is getting desperate and knows that with paranoia oozing from his clubs supporters it won’t take much to have them howling over hilariously imagined bias.

What he doesn’t understand is Lennon really was being victimised, the support from our fans was for genuine injustice, all he is doing is making a complete fool of himself.

If McCoist is under so much pressure he has to resort to building a siege mentality based on nothing but paranoia and misdirected anger then he needs to be a bit more savvy, he HAS to choose his battles carefully because choosing an incident like Alukos blatant cheating to play the victim is laughable, in fact it’s cringe worthy.

Very good point Bhoylondon67 still I think its down to bias within the SFA lodge.
Far to much thought process required to come up with such ideas.
