Kris Commons Celtic newsKris Commons is scheduled to resume full training this week with Neil Lennon hoping that the former Derby County midfielder can play a major role in Celtic’s treble bid.

Commons spectacular arrival last January has almost been matched by his disappearance this term leading to wild speculation about the state of his relationship with Lennon.

At the height of the gossip the midfielder turned up for training wrapped up in bandages after a day of text rumours about another dressing room bust-up with his boss.

Reports of a loan move to Southampton have been dismissed with Lennon planning his former team-mates return to first-team service.

“We’ve still got Kris Commons to return,” the Celtic boss explained looking forward to the Scottish Cup tie at Peterhead on Sunday. “Hopefully he’s going to start training this week.

“It’s just been the case that we haven’t been able to put sessions on for him because we have had the double-headers of games, with the rest in between.”

After winning the cup last season and going on a ten match winning run in the SPL Lennon is expected to field a strong side at Peterhead although injured duo Adam Matthews and Gary Hooper are unlikely to be risked.

“We want to win everything,” the hoops boss added. “We came very close last year, but we’ve now got a better squad.

“I’m disappointed we’re out of Europe but domestically we want to win everything. By all accounts the pitch at Peterhead is good. And we would like the match to go ahead because we don’t really want a backlog of games, if we can avoid it.”

Regardless of what the media try and stir up, its seems to me that Lennon’s man management skills are top drawer and falling out with players, especially one’s with the ability and fire power of KC not to mention what we paid for him, is not what he would consider good for the club.

KC coming back in January with Celtic in command of their own Treble destiny will be like a new signing and perfect timing to handle the fixture congestion.

Great news, would love to see us with a full strength squad for the 2nd half of the season. My 1st team would be: Forster Matthews Wanyama Mulgrew
    Izzy
    Forrest
    Brown
    Kayal
    Commons
    Stokes
    Hooper

BL67….m8 that is some team and i find it hard to disagree with any of it.

Like you I know we may as well get used to Brown being there coz NL wont drop a fit “captain”.

Mulgrew and Wanyama would indeed be my to CB’s as well but again I have the feeling thats not NL’s first choice as he has too many “true” CB’s in his squad i.e. a fit Dan or Rogne( I dont mind Thomas) will probably always get the nod due to set piece scenario’s.

I hate to leave out Joe due to his desire and consistancy and obviously Ki when he’s on form is probably our best passer of the ball in the MF and unlocks defences.

Can’t wait to see Adam and Izzy in full flow as they’ve yet to play in the same team due to Wilson gettin the nod at the start of the season.

Some dilema for Lenny bhoy lol

Jhimmy, i agree it is not ideal having Mulgrew and Wanyama at the back, but for me they are the best we have.

Kelvin Wilson has not really had a chance and hopefully he will establish himself.

Rogne, Loovens and Big Dan just do not seem the answer for me, they can be decent but we need consistancy and composure 1st and foremost imo. With Kayal injured now Wanyama will probably be needed in midfield.

Ledley and Ki are just as good and i would like to see Ledley have a few games in centre midfield because he hasn’t really had a chance there and it is his preffered position.

Lots of big decisions for Lennon and hopefully we keep our best players. Exciting times with this young crop of players.
