twitter Celtic newsSacked QPR boss Neil Warnock believes that twitter played a major role in his downfall!

Warnock was the first Premiership manager to be sacked in 2012 with both his chairman, Tony Fernadez, and captain, Joey Barton, prolific on the social network.

Former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan never hid his dislike of radio phone-ins but with social networks allowing absolutely anyone a say twitter is now setting the agenda with old-school Warnock blaming twitter for poisoning his situation at the club.

Fernandez claimed that player power was a factor in Warnock’s sacking with the outspoken Yorkshireman highly critical of his former boss.

It’s a dangerous precedent if you let players talk to the chairman but, you know, you can’t stop tweeting,” Warnock warned. “My chairman tweets a lot and some of my players tweet.

“I know the influence he’ll have had from certain people over the past few weeks.

“It would have been difficult to resist because people get on the phone and tweet and it’s almost like slowly poisoning somebody from outside the club and no doubt from within the club as well.

“Players only look after themselves so it’s quite easy to start rumours for  with this new modern media and I don’t think it helps anybody.”

Neil Warnock always blames everyone and everything but himself, i for one am glad that he has been giving the boot. (not that i am a Q.P.R. fan) I can only feel sorry for the fans of the next team he is appointed manager of.

  • Joe McHugh says:

Warnock is certainly old school but QPR has been a circus over the last twelve months.

Swansea and Norwich get less headlines but know where they are in the big picture.

Watch QPR scramble to offload Barton, Ferdinand and others on £50,000 plus per week if they return to the Championship.

Risky move by Mark Hughes to take the job but like everything Hughes does he’ll not lose out financially!

After his Man Utd testimonial, either side of a spell with Barcelona, he went on to enjoy transfers to Chelsea, Southampton, Everton and Blackburn.

Never been a fan of Warnock, always has a moan about everything and his recent defence of Joey Barton was a joke.
Twitter/FB etc I can understand being a difficult subject for managers though.

Thank goodness, when I saw a manager sacked & blaming Twitter I thought it was Sally. I mean if he got sacked how could he afford to buy all those pies he’s clearly been eating.. Seriously how can Warnock complain, he had money & been given plenty of time to show improvement but they are rank rotten, any excuse.
