Time and money running out for Rangers

Ally McCoist Rangers newsAfter 68 days of administration there are just FIVE WEEKS to save Rangers.

Yesterday’s pantomime session of bidders dropping in and out highlighted the dire straights that the club is in with the words inside Ibrox increasingly bleak.

While Paul Murray and Brian Kennedy again discuss their plans in public the clock is ticking down towards liquidation.

The starkest details came yesterday from administrator Paul Clark of Duff and Phelps who warned: “Without season-ticket sales, the money would run out towards the end of May or early June. From that point of view, we really do need to proceed with one of these bids.”

With Ticketus claiming the cash from 26,000 season ticket sales the chances of any of that money going to the club are slim with supporters wary and concerned about where their money will go and what calibre of players will be in the squad- assuming liquidation is avoided.

The reality of the crisis isn’t lost on Ally McCoist who is expected to host an upbeat weekly media conference.

Yesterday asked about possible liquidation he said: “I don’t like to deal in guesswork, but I think you’d be looking at the end of next month.

“It’s obviously a concern. You just hope that isn’t going to be the case. The time issue is what makes people worry and rightly so. The longer it goes on, the less time you have to resolve things. That is a concern.

“But there’s no threat there now that wasn’t there before. There’s nothing new that’s come up. It’s always been a possibility.

“I want to see the situation resolved as soon as possible — but the most important thing is it gets done and done right.

“To my knowledge we still have two bidders and one very interested party. It’s getting to the stage where we’ve got to start seeing a bit of action.

“I’m not yet at the stage where I’m banging my head off a wall but time is definitely running out.”

  • That’s a shame I was enjoying our new song ‘ rangers till July ‘ rangers till the end of may hasn’t got the same ring to it. Andy devlin of the sun has the blue shites riding to the rescue AGAIN how many times can they ride to the rescue without actually rescuing anything if it wasn’t so funny watching the buns getting excited every time some one rides into save them it would be boring. Hail hail bhoys and ghirls

    Are they dead yet?

I was reading yesterday that when the chips were down Celtic supporters raised over£20m+ in a share issue to keep the club alive.

I like many queued with forms in hand at Celtic Park ready to do our bit.

    Compare and contrast.

Rangers supporters reaction to their pligh has been twofold. Blame and bluster.

Blaming everyone from SFA to SPL, governments, Craig Whyte, Neil Lennon, some have even blamed SDM!

Their £15m+ pledge fund, their £300k actual fund and of course their Barren Knights riding over the horizon with sfa in their purse.

Think about the coherent inteligent plans from McCann, who was ridiculed as a joke figure and how these real life jokers at ibroke have been exalted.

Rangers should get the future they deserve.

For me there’s a chance we wont see them next season, incredible how that seems.

I am also drawn to the comparison in how supporters and clubs have reacted to their respective crisis.

Rangers supporters will have more reasons for rage when they get round to thinking about this.

No doubt they will blame Catholic schools.

This time they might be right!

Rangers as a club have brought everything on themselves and deserve all the troubles that lie before them for many many years. While I know many decent Rangers fans the problem they have is too many fingers with self interest..all the various factions like RST – RSA – Union bears, Vanguard bears and all the rest…the total lack of unity off the park was in complete contrast to the Celtic fans as they rallied immediately behind the club as one. With clowns like Mark Dungwall supposedly being seed as the main fans figurehead it’s little wonder they continue to stumble around with half baked stupid plans like black/red scafs or steaing money from the charity match.

Dumb & Duffer took over some weeks ago with the club heading into oblivion. They then took measures to save the club and have lost a further near £3m….clearly they have been negligent in their duties to the creditors, typical of Rangers FC reaction, stuff those owed and carry on regardless. You reap what you sow and they deserve to be consigned to the 3rd division, all assets sold and players released as they have done NOTHING to help resolve the situation.

The behavior of all these knights (blue, whyte, mint coloured) who are taking it in turns to ‘rescue’ rangers reminded me of another knight who behaved in similar fashion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZwuTo7zKM8

This situation with rangers has once again showed the world how we are different from them.We have a social conscience that they cant even begin to embrace ,or understand and although many of them would never admit it, they admire our spirit and commitment to our club and ethos. While they work for a continuance of hatred and intolerance, our message is that there are no barriers, physical or otherwise, to supporting the celtic we only ask that you behave yourself. There are many differences between us and them, the unfortunate thing is, you have to go outside this country to witness it.there is a goodwill for us as a club and people that they can only aspire to but wont ever acquire as they just dont have it .

Good point Williebhoy. The queen and country rags have failed to properly investigate the propriety of mssrs Duff and Phelps.
How many press conferences have they signalled their actions(or inactions) to be in the best interests of Rangers Football club when the law requires they act in the best interests of the creditors.

They should have liquidated the morons by now and allowed the creditors(Thats you and me folks)a fair proportion of the money they stole back.

duff and duffers cred is out the window.NO WAY have they put the creditors first. They are bigger robbers than the murrays and whyte. What a shower of sh@te.

  • Stevie says:

2/3/4 years minty wanted to sell the shame for £5 million with no great mention of a large tax bill. Suddenly now they’ve got up to 4 bidders vying to spend £11 million on them with up to £135 million debt.

Now is it just me or are the media just playing this story out to the end of the season then liquidation,

Let’s not forget their dual contracts whether lodge with the SFA or not, the shame have been cheating for how long 10 15 years.

There’s only one way this story ends and rightfully with the death of ragers.

I would demand trophys be stripped from this dead club not that I would want any of their tainted awards but just to show in the record books forevermore the way this dead club cheated Scottish football for over a decade.
