Gary Hooper feels that he should have scored more than five times as Celtic collected the SPL trophy with a 5-0 win over Hearts.
The striker became the first Celt to score five in one match since Dixie Deans hot six against Partick Thistle, with Alan Rough in goals, in the early seventies.
With 29 goals for the season the former Scunthorpe striker has been one of the main reasons for Celtic’s title and couldn’t hide his delight at the way that his day went.
“Scoring five goals and picking the SPL trophy up – you can’t ask for much more,” he admitted.
“I thought we were outstanding from start to finish. Finishing top scorer was my aim after winning the league at Kilmarnock. I haven’t scored five in a top-class game before but maybe I should have had six.
“I should have scored another in the first half or near the end but Paddy McCourt put too much on the pass.
“My next challenge is to score six goals in one game and score more goals next season, than I did this season.
“And the Champions League is massive in anyone’s career. I would love to play in it and score.”
