Celtic’s double winning youth squad will take a half-time bow tonight during the match against St Johnstone.
John Kennedy’s side completed the season with 15 wins to lift the SPL title and SFA Youth Cup before ending the season with a 1-1 draw wuth Rangers on Saturday.
That point was enough to create the best ever SPL season with Celtic matching the 57 points Rangers collected in season 07/08 but creating a goal difference of +48 compared to +43 of Rangers.
The whole purpose of the u-19 side is to develop first team players with Neil Lennon likely to have a couple of the double winners in action tonight.
“It’s been a very satisfying season for everyone,” Kennedy admitted. “The players have been a credit and fully deserve their success.
“The form from December onwards has been fantastic, they showed the ability and mentality that Celtic sides require.
“Tony Watt scored 21 goals then there are three midfielders that hit double midfielders and that’s something that we challenge them to produce.
“Adding that finishing touch is vital in the game and at the back we’ve had a lot of clean sheets. Now the players have to keep working hard and take the next step up.
“A lot of the younger players have came in at different times and shown their ability, it’s definitely about a squad these days and not just the 11 on the park.
Looking back on Saturday’s draw with Rangers Kennedy added: “We had the league won but showed a lot of hunger to come back from a goal down and the second half was pretty much one way traffic.
“There were a few chances to win it but it wouldn’t fall for us. We can’t be critical of the players, they played very well, created chances and pushed to the final whistle.”
