Broadfoot told to quit Ibrox

Kirk Broadfoot Rangers newsThe cash crisis at Sevco has intensified with Kirk Broadfoot being told to leave the club.

Broadfoot and Lee McCulloch were the longest serving players at Rangers who TUPE’d their contracts over to Sevco but has now been told that he has no future at Ibrox.

Despite the flood of season ticket sales triggered by some carefully chosen soundbites from Charles Green the reported £10m of money raised falls way short of the sum required to see the club through till the end of the season.

The running costs of Ibrox and Murray Park plus the second most expensive coaching staff in Scotland eats up more than half the sum raised from season tickets.

Green has found little enthusiasm from the Scottish business community for his grand plan with talk of three billionaires investing in the club falling ominously quiet.

Plans for a share issue to supporters are believed to be underway but with little information about Green’s backers and their intentions, attempts to sell shares in the lead up to Christmas could prove much harder than selling season tickets.

Faced with the reality of income against outgoings Green has had no option but to cut the wage bill. Despite having the transfer ban lifted last month the club wage bill has decreased with the departures of Dorin Goian, Alejandro Bedoya and the likely exit of Maurice Edu more than covering the cost of six new signings.

The loss of Broadfoot will seriously undermine McCoist’s defensive options with captain Carlos Bocanegra also likely to depart.

Bocanegra has ambitions to play for the USA at the next World Cup finals in Brazil but is well aware that he is unlikely to achieve that playing lower division football in Scotland.

Tomorrow, they will be saying Bocanegra wants away, on Thursday it will be Alexander & Wallace and on Friday it will be McCulloch.

Clearly he didn’t WALK away though…stayed aye loyal and would naturally agree to cancellation of his contract provided they pay up a leaving fee !!

Guess Chico didn’t manage to find that £ 30m he was going to deposit at the end of July then…typical all talk as fully expected.

Wonder how long it will take them to realise they are being “duped” yet again….Can’t see them fighting for shares with xmas on the horizon and the club struggling in the 3rd Division.

Maybe get an early xmas prezzie from HMRC / SPL with the Tax case & Dual contracts announcements to put the nail firmly in.

    a share issue???….more comedy gold!!

Minty tried one of them a few years back when the gers were at the top of the pile and around 1/50th were sold, leaving him to underwrite the rest.
    Who would buy shares now????
There’s no confidence in the team’s performances.
No confidence that the manager can get the best out the team.
No confidence that the team will get to the end of the season.
No confidence that there won’t be further sanctions from the Oldco.
No confidence that they’ll even survive the length of the transfer embargo.

Seriously – who would buy shares?

  • Antonious F says:

rumour is that Clubfoot was asked to leave because the standard of div 3 was to high for him.

Clearly this sevco loyalty thing only goes one way . . .the supporters loyalty to Cabbage Green and Fat Sally McUseless. . .nothing, but NOTHING back in return except mediocre third division rubbish. Ha, ha, ha . . . sevco will be very lucky to see it past Christmas never mind winning the diddy league title.
