Regan cops out of confronting Green’s taunts

|

Stewart Regan newsSpineless SFA chief Stewart Regan would rather move on than call Charles Green to account for his most recent attacks on the football authorities.

Last Saturday Regan accused the SPL of being drunk or incompetent in dealing with the trail of debt left by Rangers before offering his services as a future chief executive.

Earlier this week that he claimed that he is always the victim and that the SFA were doing everything to make life difficult.

Green’s comments have gone down a treat with the Ibrox box office as fans queue up to buy season tickets costing more than match-by-match entry.

Regan has been on the receiving end of Green’s comments but is happy to sit back and allow the season ticket strategy to go ahead compromising the prospects of the SFA being able to justify any disrepute charges when Green is allowed to say whatever he likes.

“Charles Green has his own reasons why he’s making the comments he is,” Regan explained. “But it’s clear Rangers have galvanised their fans behind the club and sold a huge amount of season tickets.

“They’ve used the situation to get the fans behind them but it’s important for Scottish football that we move on now and restore focus on the football itself and look forward to league reconstruction and helping produce good young talent.”

While bodyswerving the comments from Green the chief executive of the SFA is attempting to put together league reconstruction.

With a number of SFL calling for a vote of no confidence Regan’s latest scheme to assist Sevco can expect a hostile reaction when it comes to the vote with clubs concerned by the motives of the former Yorkshire CCC chief.

As before clubs will need a strong message sent to them by their fan base.
Why would it be to anyone’s benefit (other than Sevco fans) to let Sevco return to top flight football debt free.
If not punished Sevco will carry on cheating.
That’s not to mention the honest mistake brigade.

  • Terry O'Neill says:

This is a chief executive telling us to move on,when systematic cheating on a decade long scale has still to be dealt with.

This shows he is now part of the very fabric that allowed this to go unchecked.

    A coward.

  • tallybhoy says:

Regan must be under orders from his boss, RC O’Gilvie!

    Regan = spineless!
    O’Gilvie = corrupt!

If it was Neil Lennon saying these things he would have been banned for life! So the farce goes on!

Still CL football (hopefully) until Xmas, instead of the Pawnbroker’s Cup! HA!

    HH!!

  • sands1888 says:

Surely the wouldnt treat neil lennon any different mmm

  • paranoidandroid says:

Reagan is Ogilvie’s bitch. Sack the two of them, and stuff “moving on”. We want justice. We want them actually punished for cheating.

    • paranoidandroid says:

I meant to say that Lance Armstrong has just been stripped of seven titles for cheating.

Maybe that’ll give someone in Scotland a bit of a clue as to how a real governing body acts. Maybe.

At this rate Chuckles Green will be a cross between John Wayne-Rambo-Caligula- Ivan the Terrible by the time that horrible mob get fast-tracked into the SPL. He’ll truly be Charles the Mad. He’s already half way there. The power has inflated his ego like hot wind in a whoopie cushion…somebody needs to led all that hot air out…unfortunately Regan goes for a pee…he does it out of a baldy wee front-bum

  • Wonky says:

Every time I look at Regan I think…of that scene in ‘Deliverance’ with Ned Beatty & the two Hillbillies…Green. Bent over Regan. Piggy Piggy. Yes Mr Grrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeennnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!! You iz my bitch now…will Green & Ogilvie fight over who owns his ass?

  • sands1888 says:

Poor laddie cant say anything against sevco wanderers fc. Its not worth his membership at the lodge. Fud

  • Kenny McCaffrey says:

Well said Joe. Doesn’t this clown realise that because of the whole Rangers debacle, it is HE and all the other people administering the game in Scotland that have to be changed – not the structure of the leagues, etc.

Of course he should step aside, if not sacked. And why, for goodness sake, is one of the most historically important organisations in world football headed by a Yorkshireman – and an ex-cricket man to boot? (By the way, I’d love to see Yorkshire CCC accepting a Scot in a similar role.) Scots are renowned the world over for running things – why not our own national sport?

Scottish football has great potential as a ‘brand’ and product – eg, we are one of the top nations for attendances per head of population, last night’s Hearts v Liverpool was a great advert for the fans’ passion, not to mention the away support at Helsingborg (and most other non-Rangers games). Any decent marketing guy (or gal) could capitalise on that – and would never undermine something as vital as the TV deals, which Regan and his team of clowns have ensured are among the least lucrative (on a like for like basis) in all of Europe. He should be sacked for that alone.

Idiots like Green will come and go, they should be no problem for a decent adminsitrator – I know from past experience that Paisley & West of Scotland, and the Scottish Amateur boys league committees would have made mincemeat of him weeks ago.

  • Hevghirl says:

Mr Regan and his cohorts have and continue to set dangerous precedents with the actions or lack thereof of the SFA and by allowing the Sevco franchise to say and do whatever they want. By allowing them to behave in whatever way possible, they are opening themselves up to others doing exactly the same thing and they’ll be stepping into a legal minefield if they try and sanction others.

It is incredible that Regan has said that Green and Sevco can behave in whichever way galvanises their fans. Well religious hatred and hatred of anything you can find in the dictionary is what galvanises their fans, and Regan has just condoned it. This will backfire upon Regan and the ruling authorities in time. It will be interesting to watch the fallout.

  • Williebhoy says:

I would astonished if Messrs Regan, Doncaster & Ogilvie are still in situ by the start of next season. If they are then surely no-one (apart from the obvious) would back any of their misguided plans….this is the clown who foretold of armageddon in the SPL – Doom & Gloom. As yet I have not heard of any of our senior clubs going to the wall.

However the SFA themselves might well feel the backlash of public opinion in forthcoming Scotland internationals / Scottish Cup fixtures.

  • fenceclimber says:

“Charles Green has his own reasons why he’s making the comments he is,” Regan explained. “But it’s clear Rangers have galvanised their fans behind the club and sold a huge amount of season tickets.

“They’ve used the situation to get the fans behind them but it’s important for Scottish football that we move on now and restore focus on the football itself and look forward to league reconstruction and helping produce good young talent.”

Right, so let me get this straight. Regan is basically saying, ‘Charles Green is running me and my SFA colleagues into the ground to whip up a frenzy amongst the sevconians to get them to buy season tickets and it looks like it’s working and hey, I’m all good with that.’ Am I reading this correctly?

    • Hevghirl says:

You read it exactly the way I read it and it will come back to haunt them. I think we should all stoke everyone up into a frenzy, see where that leaves us – who cares if it creates bedlam? I mean, if it sells a few tickets…all clubs should try it.

It’s disgusting that the head of the national football association thinks that it is appropriate for anyone in a ‘civilised’ society to stoke any sort of mob mentality. Kind of reminds me of when people thought it was okay for lynch mobs to brutally and publicly torture and kill Mohammed Gaddafi. Whipping any mob into a frenzy is despicable and to do it to sell a few tickets is made the more vile. However, for me, the bigger crime is for the governor of the ruling body of this country to condone it! It is morally repugnant and he should be removed from his post.
