Lassad NouiouiTwenty-four hours after Levante announced his signing Lassad Nouioui completed a two year contract for Celtic.

The 26-year-old striker arrived in Glasgow to finalise his deal and will be eligible for the Champions League campaign.

Nouioui hasn’t played any football since finishing last season with Deportivo La Coruna and is unlikely to be involved in the Champions League opener against Benfica.

After seeling his move to the SPL the Tunisian told the Celtic website: “I´m absolutely delighted to sign for Celtic.

“Celtic is a huge club with a magnificent history and a fantastic support. I know all about the wonderful atmosphere at Celtic Park and I can´t wait to play there.

“I know that Celtic already has a great squad of players and I´m very much looking forward to joining up with my team-mates. And I hope to play my part in bringing success to the club.

“And, of course, I´m also looking to competing in the UEFA Champions League with such a great football club.”

Speaking after his side had drawn 2-2 with Hibs Neil Lennon said: “He will do a couple of days’ fitness work because he obviously hasn’t had a club since the end of the season and we just need to gauge his physical condition and take it from there.

“He is six foot two, he leads the line very well, he can play inside or outside the box and he can head it very well.

“We have liked him for a wee while. I know most of his goals have come in the Second Division in Spain but it is still a good standard and he has played for Deportivo in the last couple of seasons. He will bring another dimension to the team.”

Very interesting looks like big Sammis double with goals. With these two new strikers in competition for places will be intese.

Can see this guy upfront with Sammi and Forrest wide in euro games, well done Lenny Lawell and John Park for the nouse and knowledge not to get caught up in the money splashing of the prrmiership.

Celtic’s most expensive signing Efran Juarez over 3m left for hee haw so doesnt gaurentee success.

I hate to judge players on youtube videos because ive not heard of any of them but Ki, Kayal, Wanyama, Mathews to name but a few is testament to the policy CFC have adopted in the transfer market and I have to say that im quietly impressed by the videos ive seen of this guy, miku and big efe… heres hoping they hit the ground running! In Lennon we trust! Hail Hail!!

If these new guys shape up, it could be a very interesting season. If big Efe takes control of the center of our defence, and Miku and Lassad get us a few more goals, then getting out of the group could just be possible.

Good transfer business all round, and so glad we didn’t just spend on a name, which may have affected the development of a promising team of lads (could even make money on these players along the line).

As far as this one’s concerned, I think it could have the added bonus of big Sammie tearin up and down the park for 90 mins, now that there’s a ready replacement for him.

By the way, think the new lad needs a nickname: I’m assuming we pronounce his name Nweewee – ‘oui’ being French for yes – so what about calling him N’aye-aye?

Let’s hope the new big man has a taste for scoring goals otherwise we will be up shite creek without a paddy once more.

Quite satisfied with the dealings of the transfer window. Letting Bangura go and get match fitness elsewhere and, well just letting Murphy go and getting a La Liga class striker plus another from La Liga 2 (still a far better standard than the SPL) is certainly a good piece of business.

If big Effie (didn’t she used to go to the bingo with your mammy?) turns out to be the all-commanding and domineering centre half we have been crying out for since Bobo in his heyday then it is happy days indeed.
