EBT deal with SFA and SPL revealed

Neil Doncaster SPL newsA report in The Sun today claims that the SPL and SFA attempted to hatch a deal with Charles Green to cover up the EBT investigation.

Stewart ‘social unrest’ Regan and Neil Armageddon Doncaster stand accused of attempting to oversee a cosy deal that would have provided Sevco with a First Division place in return for Rangers losing five SPL titles and four Scottish Cups.

During the summer there were calls for a vote of no confidence in Regan from some SFL chairmen as the SFA and SPL attempted to push through a reconstruction package aimed at accommodating Sevco in the First Division.

That plan was overwhelmingly rejected with new evidence now emerging of just how desperate the ruling bodies were to come up with a deal to prevent details of the EBT scandal becoming public knowledge.

Both the SPL and SFA were made aware of the issue by HMRC but rather than look into the matter which might have uncovered their own skeletons both parties attempted to carry on as normal providing Rangers with a Champions League place for the 2011/12 season that ended with the club in administration.

According to todays’ exclusive in the deal centred around: “(i) the withdrawal from Rangers FC, RFC and Sevco of the award and status of Champion Club (as defined in SPL Rules) of the Scottish Premier League for each and all of Seasons 2002/03, 2004/05, 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11; (ii) the withdrawal from Rangers FC, RFC and Sevco of the award and status of winner of the Scottish Cup for each and all of Seasons 2001/02, 2002/03, 2007/08 and 2008/09”.

With Sevco asked to: “Accept and agree to be bound by each and all of the EBT Sanctions; (ii) the SFA and the SPL agree that no further sanctions will be imposed with respect to or concerning the EBT Payments and Arrangements; and (iii) RFC and Sevco shall not directly or indirectly make any claim and/or representation to have won any of the Championships and/or Cups which are the subject of any and all of the EBT Sanctions”.

Since their summer of discontent Regan and Doncaster have been keeping a low profile while Green shouts the odds about how Sevco have been mistreated as he attempts to sell season tickets and talk up a share issue aimed at supporters.

With UEFA becoming increasingly involved in financial fair play it can only be a matter of time before the auditors turn up at Hampden to carry out a forensic inspection of how the SFA attempt to run the game.

In May FIFA voiced their concerns about the SFA being taken to court after the applied a watered down sanction to various charges of bringing the game into disrepute in connection with non-payment of public taxes.

Campbell Ogilvie remains President of the SFA.

    Holy Crap!!!

Astonished of forehead. Sitting here mouth open. Gonna need a few hours for this one to sink in

  • TJ Hooper says:

There’s no reason to pretend to be flabergasted by this.

When the glare of public scrutiny is always on, its really no surprise that informally things are sorted out around a table in advance of the public announcements and formality. It happens in Boardrooms all over, it happens during Regulatory investigations, it happens in police interrogations. Deals and compromises get struck in order that the greater good is served with as little raking through the mud of whatever the business at hand is.

This looks like a fair deal in advance of an EBT issue that the SFA clearly knows is the stick with which FIFA/Scottish fans and football fans in general and HMRC will insist ‘the’ Rangers are beaten. The rest is just coming up with a way to present it in a palatable way without Chazza Green
spouting nonsense and posturing about things that make no sense, riling up the hordes and making everyone’s life more difficult. Obviously thats not the way the big Chas G does business though. Read between the lines. Its an admission that judgement day has arrived.

I think we all knew something was going on. But then again its the Sun so it may just be bullshit to sell papers.

  • Dhougal says:

My pal been sayin to me for months now that this mob were going to cause the collapse of Scottish football and that FIFA will end up barring us from ALL competitions !!!. Time for Celtic to come out……..all guns blazing ………..and the rest of Scottish football too ,or soon it’ll be too late !!

  • Scott Mackenzie says:

So am i correct in thinking that basically the spl/sfa knew that rangers had cheated by having dual contracts and that this new lord nemo panel is just a waste of money dog and pony show for the hordes of mordor ?

also am i correct in thinking and that the sfa/spl themselves knowing cheated celtic out of a champions league place by granting rangers a licence to play despite not having the finances/accounts to be eligible ?

can celtic not take legal action against the sfa/spl for gross misconduct and loss of earnings – not to mention demand the resignations of various clearly bias people.

Also could this not be the opportunity we have been waiting for in regards to a lawful and understandable resignation from this league to join another? ( in terms of uefas reluctance to allow such cross border changes).

  • paranoidandroid says:

It must be time for a clear out at the top: The SFA/SPL let ragers takethe CL place knowing they were unable to meet all the financial criteria to qualify.

For some strange reason they gave this sevco bloke, Charlie Green, a say in what punishment the olco ragers should get.

And now, they’ve spent thousands of pounds setting up a show trial about punishing a liquidated club, a club that they’ve know for over a year is guilty.

In their defence, they were distracted by the more serious issue of the zombie banner. But I feel it’s time to say, “Regan, Doncaster, Ogilvie, bye, bye”.

  • Ciaran says:

Celtic would be best advised not to seek legal recourse. Not through the law courts anyway.
Any objections would need to be lodged with U E F A
and subsequently through the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
We would have a good case to go with a civil case, however, as Sevco have found out, it’s not the correct route. We need to stay on side with U E F A.

  • DosTheCat says:

Why news like this and other revelations over the last 9 months have not been echoed on other websites, newspapers, TV news stations is what leaves me flabbergasted. The lack of journalistic integrity, the search for the truth (or lack of it) in the Scottish media is both sad and worrying.

  • Ed Dunne says:

How does this all fit with our own team bearing in mind Celtic have influence within the SPL. Why have we as a club not flagged this up and stopped the corruption in its tracks. Did Mr Lawell etc actually know and not react. I sincerely hope not.

  • Canada bhoy says:

Why should anyone be surprised by this. For decades the SFA and the Referee Association have been pro Rangers and anti Celtic.

  • williebhoy says:

No major surprises…just what will now happen after the investigation. I suppose someone from Ibrox released details to the Sun to make Green look good….I turned down a deal to go into Div 1…..so we got thrown into Div 3 they still took the titles but at least I stood my ground YAWN !!

They won’t be represented as they have NO defence at all. I hope they throw the book at them including huge demands for compensation, especially the UEFA clubs. They want to claim to be the same club….so stump up or shut up.

    • NoPretender! says:

      especially the UEFA clubs?
celtic are the biggest losers in all this.
celtic lost out on a place in the champions league!
      celtic lost champions league revenue!
celtic lost the credentials to attract potential football stars!
      celtic lost league titles!
celtic lost SPL champions prize money!
      celtic lost scottish cup titles!

and if fifa & or uefa throw the book at scottish football
celtic will lose the opportunity to compete in future european competition!

      WTF!!!!!!

  • Dougie Bhoy says:

not surprised in the slightest! dirty rotten cheating bampots and im not even talking about rangers for once!

  • Jimmy McGovern says:

I’d like to be a fly on the wall in every Scottish Masonic Lodge this very night. Cheating basts!

  • Shamrock hoops says:

The other big issue is still unresolved, £2 million of EBT money is still unaccounted for, this money wasn’t payed to Huns players/ management!! Anyone like to guess where it went & who it was paid too!!

  • Andybhoy says:

Was listening to Clyde today on the way to the game and the way they were talking about the revelations in the Sun you would think that this actually proves that there is some sort of witch-hunt against Oldco & Sevco, when in fact it proves the complete opposite.

These revelations not only prove that the SFA and SPL knew for the past two years (at least) that there was improper use of EBT’s at Oldco and turned a blind eye to it but it also proves they were conspiring to do shady deals with Oldco & Sevco behind closed doors which subverted the laws and processes they are supposed to be there to uphold. The SFA and SPL are not there to ‘do deals’ they are there to govern the game and make sure ALL clubs abide by the rules and regulations set down.

It is simply astounding the way that some journos and pundits have turned this story completely on it’s head by claiming that because the stripping of titles was part of the shady deal rejected by oldco, then in essence the SFA and SPL have already made up their minds and found oldco guilty. Insinuating that the independent panel’s verdict has been predetermined and is merely a kangaroo court which has already passed judgement.

This is a complete manipulation of the facts and the timing of this leaked report is a blatant attempt by some in the press to pile as much pressure as possible on the independent panel to come down in favour of oldco.

We are now witnessing the true face of Scottish football and that of the Scottish press and both of them are fecking ugly.

    Hail Hail.

    • StandAndDeliver says:

It is quite shocking just how easily this MOB can be manipulated. What kind of morons can be told black is white, and believe it!?

  • Thomas says:

Any one been asked to comment on the Draft Fans Charter?
I have, its fair enough, find it on SFA website.
My response was ‘I have absolutely no faith that the SFA will implement it without FEAR OR FAVOUR’ In summary ram it!

  • Captain Cornflake says:

Celtic should stay way way out of this
no matter what the feelings inside the club are.

The SFA,SPL have shown an attrocious lack of leadership – and faith in an SPL product without Rangers,Servco or whoever.

HMRC and Lord Nimmo will now dictate what happens and the impotent governing bodies will be led meekly by them.

We do not need to get embroiled by any of this and the longer celtic hold their council, the greater respect and dignity from others, will grow.

Let Charles green sprout his sermons.
Day by day they shock less and ridicule their “cause” more.

It’a all positive for us at the moment,a settled squad, champions league football, healthy balance sheets to come.

lovin it lovin it lovin it!!

    SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA CORRUPTION…SFA…

Hey UEFA…DO YOU HAVE A BLIND SPOT FOR SCOTTISH CORRUPTION?

    • Joe says:

      No question about it.
Why do you really think this has taken so long to get even this far?
There are far too many people stand to be outed in this fiasco if it is made public. There is no doubt in my mind that the time this is taking is down to the work going on in the background trying to save the ass of many of the people in power. There are so many of them implicated and so many with too much to lose. We always knew the sfa were corrupt and had a huge leaning towards that club which used to be called rangers, but with Green shouting his mouth off so much these daysthe sfa are afraid to piss him off incase he turns on them and has the ones involved implicated too. This is going to go away quietly because there are too many corrupt officials with their testicles in a bag over the fire. Think of the corruption which has been exposed in recent years involving bias towards the goat lovers.
Jim Farry, outed by Fergus and shamed into oblivion. Dougie Dougie, shamed and outed by a decent man who has been silently punished ever since. The biggest cheat and bigot of all time, dallas, caught, and exposed by the same ref who outed Dougie Dougie, then exposed as a bigot sending typical diusgusting emails about the Pope.
Gordon Smith, now Campbell Ogilvie! All these people have one thing in common. They are all known followers of that club which used to be called rangers. The refs are a biased organization and have been outed more than once.

  • rodger says:

    anyone really surprised?

  • rik says:

This cant be happening. stuff like this only happens in those cheating Latin 3rd world countries. you know like italy, portugal, spain not to mention france germany, turkey and the like. this could never happen in a place like scotland.

What astounds me is that the media and those in charge actually believe the above.

f4nnys to the core. eff the sfa.
