Juninho red herring leaves McCoist puzzled

Ally McCoist Rangers newsAlly McCoist has been left perplexed by the red herring of Juninho’s Celtic contract and believes that there is a witch hunt against Rangers.

The rooky Ibrox boss decided to speak out about the issue to daily newspapers ahead of today’s clash with Annan Athletic.

Most managers avoid discussing other clubs, especially financial matters, but despite being perplexed by the issue McCoist was happy to add to the confusion for the hard of thinking.

It’s difficult to imagine Tranmere’s Ronnie Moore discussing the financial structure of Liverpool or Barnet’s Mark Robson comment on Arsene Wenger’s lack of spending power but McCoist couldn’t help himself from speaking out on the Juninho non-story.

You would have to ask them (SPL) how it works but it does baffle me ever so slightly,” the former Question of Sport skipper admitted.

“At the same time, that’s another decision that doesn’t surprise me. My reading of the situation is that the SPL have accepted that (Juninho) EBT because the money was paid to the player after he left the club.

“What has that got to do with his performances while he’s at the club? Nothing. You would agree that’s a strange one.”

Turning to the SPL hearing into 11 years of EBT use at Rangers McCoist is in agreement with Charles Green’s decision to walkaway from the issue despite being invited by the SPL to defend the matter.

He added: “I stand by what the club have said, 100 per cent,’ McCoist said. ‘You know it’s not a decision that has been taken lightly.

“We took advice on it and I was fortunate enough to attend the meetings. We have taken a stand.

“The vast majority of people I have spoken to, not just Rangers fans, believe it’s fast becoming a witch-hunt.”

Fat Sally is making bomber Brown seem intelligent these days!

  • williebhoy says:

Meanwhile back in the REAL world it’s called JUSTICE Sally….You HAVE to abide by the law of the land & pay taxed, You HAVE to abide by the rules accepted by ALL clubs who gain admission to the SFA / SPL / SFL / UEFA…..simples even for a brain donor like yourself surely.

Same rules apply to ALL clubs – strange though it may be to you Sally.

Sometimes it’s better to say nothing and let people think you are a moron than to speak out and confirm it…..think on Sally.

Countdown to walkaway has started – Green has already begun his exit strategy – Slag off the SPL / SFA now trying to bring Celtic into his inane ramblings.

  • Eleven years sally eleven years! Witch hunt shut up!!! Is call justice for eleven years of stealing , eleven years of cheating, all you pld clubs expensive signingis if no cheatey no gazza , no laudo, no wilko, witchunt my bum !!!

  • rodger says:

Is Sally really so thick or just playing the cards as they are dealt, methinks thick would be the correct answer.
    Oh Happy Days

Does he not relise that juninho got his ebt after he left celtic and we declared and paid the tax due. Rangers wer paying them while they wer still playing for the club and didny declare it or pay any tax on it. Just they view of a shitty manager playing to the views of the orc faithfull. Who cares wit he thinks champions league next week canny wait. HH

Dissappoints me greatly that the laptop loyal are giving these cretins a platform to twist the truth!! Now their calling it a witch-hunt, it beggars belief!!

  • neil says:

tell me this is a made up story? is this guy for real, we are comparing the great train robbers to taking 5p out of your mums purse! FFS we payed up and approached the tax man for advise, the Huns where running a tax evasion scam!

  • Gerry D says:

    The difference is simple.

Celtics EBT payment has been cleared as legal by HMRC & SPL.

It complied with the law of the land & sporting authorities.

Rangers systematically cheated for at least 11 years.

Rangers know this but are happy to mobilise the thickitron bigots in their support & in the press to create such a clamour that the SPL will be bullied into refraining from title stripping, which is the only & inevetible outcome.

When rangers went into the liquidation process they should have been given no zombi concessions.

Murray park & ibrox should have been sold to  pay debts and Spartans should now be in Div3.

The prophesy of Armageddon was one if many lies we were told.

The truth is that Sevco have been treated preferentially and an opportunity has been lost to show Scotland as a country which acts fairly to all.

As opposed to condemning Green & McCoist the Scottish media have ran Sevco’s PR campaign giving credibility to their lunatic rants. Why? Because thats what 80% of their audience want to hear.

The tail indeed wags the dog.

  • pete says:

beating the drum again ally, when the tax man cometh and he shall. all the staff at rangers will be scrutinised, hope all your papers are in order.you will be able to run a team in BARLINIE

  • Kenny McCaffrey says:

Hilarious. I bet anyone involved in trying to get investors into Ibrox has collapsed into their corn flakes. Again. What an arse.

McCoist you are an embarrassment to the Scottish education system. Witch-hunt? A twat-hunt would be over in a flash down your way – a brain-hunt would take an eternity.

  • Celtic Daft says:

SAlly is of low intellect. Remember it was he who told “Gazza” to mimic playing a flute if he scored in the “Old Firm” game. Not the behaviour of a wise man, but of a total idiot!

  • bhoy@58 says:

ally puzzled? not as half as puzzled as me after listening to sally`s interview yday. he said the spl want to punish us(sevco)when weve never been a member of it!Never been a member? then why are u claiming titles of an organization youve never been a member of???

  • Jimbo says:

The only punishment served out to Rangers FC (not Sevco – they are a completely different animal) will be at the hands of the tax-man.

The Scottish footballing authorities have neither the mettle nor honesty to confront the issue: Rangers FC are cheats, they are liquidated and now dead – their fans are being allowed the vision of Sevco as a replacement club & that Rangers FC’s history is both transferable and unblemished.

Mark my words – only HMRC will have the spine to address the deplorable abuses of Rangers FC.

  • StandAndDeliver says:

Mcoist is as thick as s#it.

  • witch hunt!!no orce hunt it is residents of Mordor.thats what the white wizard done.

  • Stevie says:

If we had an honest and fair press coverage of the EBT issue fat Sally wouldn’t be confused.

So please Celtic fans don’t buy any Scottish rags there not there for the likes of us. Hopefully the truth will prevail, if not I don’t know where Celtic go from there, court possibly. We’ve had fat Jabba the succulent lamb muncher telling us this week to forget EBTs let’s move on for the good of Scottish football.

Who’s going to compensate me for 10/11 years season ticket money for playing in a bent league or Celtic for lost revenue.

I truly believe if Sevco are not punished severely for EBTs nothings surer than they’ll be cheating again within a matter of weeks.

This issue is about the survival of Scottish football not just Sevco.

If Sevco are not punished is it worth going to watch Scottish football, it’d be like applying for a job in the bank in the sixties if your not the right religion, no point.

I don’t make the above statment lightly as I love Being a Celtic supporter and love Celtic.
