Hillsborough Justice CampaignNeil Lennon has voiced his concern about the revelations from the Hillsborough report.

David Cameron provided a full government apology in the House of Commons as an independent report revealed the full extent of corruption that swung into action in Sheffield 23 years ago.

Decades of distortion with the Liverpool fans portrayed as villains of the piece were finally exposed with the finger of blame pointed at police in the cover-up.

Horror stories have emerged of how 10-year-old children had their blood checked for alcohol while police searched for criminal records as the dead lay in a temporary mortuary at the Sheffield Wednesday ground.

Just one ambulance made it to the scene with this weeks report revealing that 41 lifes could have been saved if the police had given the ambulance service access to the ground.

Like everyone in and out of football the revelations shocked Lennon with the Celtic boss outspoken on the content of the report.

“It´s deeply disturbing,” he admitted. “It´s 23 years too late for the families and the people associated with it. I think there is a huge justification and vindication for Liverpool Football Club, their supporters and certainly the families of the people who passed away.

“It´s very concerning the way it´s been handled by people in authority, I don’t think it´s run its mileage yet. There has to be justice and I think there has to be punishment for the people who deflected the blame elsewhere.”

Liverpool’s first match after the Hillsbrough tragedy was against Celtic in a benefit game for the victims.

I never had much time for the Sun, but I’ve hated it with a passion since that article after Hillsborough.

There’s an old saying that’s appropriate to the Sun’s comments and the whole aftermath of Hillsborough:

“There’s nothing so dangerous as the establishment under threat”.

After Hillsborough, the police, the judiciary, the government, and the press proved that that saying is as true in Britain as in any Banana Republic or Tin-pot dictatorship.
