Liam Gormley Greig Spence Celtic newsGreig Spence was the Raith Rovers hero as the Fifers snatched a draw at Airdrie Utd in the Scottish Cup.

Despite taking the lead the visitors found themselves trailing 2-1 when the match reached stoppage time.

All but one of the strikers’ goals for the Celtic youth side came from inside the penalty box with Spence again sniffing out a priceless goal.

The Raith Rovers website described the goal as: “His low cross was put in by the sliding Grieg Spence from 6 yards. The Raith star burst the travelling fans into life the young front man fully deserved a goal. Walker was booked for enjoying the goal too much…”

Loan bhoy Paul Slane was a second half substitute in Partick Thistle’s 2-1 win over Cove Rangers with former Celts Scott Fox and Stephen O’Donnell continuing to star for Jackie McNamara’s side.

Another member of Celtic’s double-double winning youth side was almost on the end of an upset as Arbroath travelled to Inverurie Loco’s with Keiran Brennan at left-back.

The Second Division side looked comfortable on a 3-1 lead but two goals in the last five minutes means that the clubs will need to replay at Gayfield.

In sunnier climes Jackson Irvine was in the Australian u-19 side that defeated Qatar 1-0 in their opening match of the Asian Cup in Dubai.

On Tuesday Australia take on Syria before completing their group against Saudia Arabia.

The four semi-finalists from the 16 team competition will qualify for the finals next year in Turkey.
