Euan Norris Celtic newsEuan Norris is set to be dumped by UEFA.

The man who refereed Celtic’s Scottish Cup semi-final defeat from Hearts last season is set to be demoted from Category 1 down to Category 2 when the new ref rankings come out on January 1.

Norris has been given just one European match this season, the low key Europa League qualifier between Trabzonspor and Videoton in Turkey in August, with the UEFA beaks clearly unconvinced by the man from the same Lanarkshire Referee’s Association that produced Willie Collum.

At the age of 35 it is unlikely that Norris will return to the Category 1 list with the subsequent loss of first class travel and expenses to supplement his full time career.

Following his decision to award Hearts an injury time penalty in the Scottish Cup semi-final Norris was confronted by Neil Lennon on the pitch at the final whistle.

Norris had a shocking game at Hampden and needed the help of an assistant to yellow card Ian Black for a horrendous over the top attack on Joe Ledley that many felt should have been an ordering off.

More recently Norris clashed with Kilmarnock boss Kenny Shiels after sending off goalkeeper Cammy Bell in a 2-1 defeat to St Johnstone.

“I went to shake the hand of the ref at the end and didn’t say a word,” the Rugby Park boss explained. “I kept my emotions inside as much as I could. He then said something sarcastic so I reported him to John Connolly (SPL delegate).

“I don’t know what exactly it was he said but it was something flippant. I will also be reporting him to John Fleming as well because I’m not happy about it.”

If they are not good enough for EUFA, they are not good enough for us. Time for a cull,

Foreign refs in our country is the only way we will ever get a fair crack of the whip, possibly from the vatican city maybe 😉

It would be interesting to hear the reasons WHY? I don’t think EUFA take such matters lightly, Maybe EUFA would be kind enough to intervene and overhaul completely the standard of Scottish refs, as they have clearly said, “Norris old chap, You,re pish, Beat it!

Why does it take these people so long to act when one of the people who represent them is an incompetent fool.Uefa should give themselves a shake.

Surely only a matter of time until Mr Collum follows, rotten to the core the both of them!

We have known of this bias against us for years. It isn’t anything new!
But awful and biased refs aren’t confined to our wee small minded Scotland! Can you imagine any ref letting a manager away with what Alex “Rudolph the Red Nose” Ferguson got away with last weekend? Even in England refs are in some pockets with Ferguson being protected by all.

The difference in Scotland is that it comes mainly from bigotry which is in-bred from birth. What galls us is that it continues with the son of satan himself, young dallas, being allowed to come into the game and immeiately lie the way he was taught by daddy, yet remain protected as a person who could not ever be wrong or God forbid, maybe even lie! The bigots are here to stay, we just have to deal with it the way we always have done.
