Tom Rogic has already passed one of his toughest tests- impressing his new Celtic team-mates.
The midfielder is expected to complete the formalities of his transfer over the next 48 hours with Central Coast Mariners agreeing a fee with Celtic.
Rogic joined Celtic at their winter training camp in Marbella and made an instant impact on Kris Commons.
“I’ve seen him train once, but it seems like he has plenty of ability,” the penalty hero of the Spartak Moscow match said. “I’m sure he’ll fit in.
“I heard rumours that Fulham made a bid for him and also that he was supposed to have been going to Reading.
“It’s competition not just for me, but Joe Ledley as well and it’s always nice to have healthy competition because I think it makes you better.
“But I don’t think the gaffer would see it as competition, more just a team getting better and better.
“With a club like Celtic, there is no point bringing in players not good enough to play.”
Commons was a half time substitute against Steaua making a big impression with a hand in both Celtic goals.
His cross into the penalty box was converted brilliantly by Mo Bangura with Commons hopeful that it can herald a change of fortune for the striker.
“It was good to see Mo getting a goal,” he added. “I think he has been doing pretty well while on loan, so it was nice for him to come back and get a goal for the club. That is going to give him a big boost in confidence.
“Certain people need a rub of the green and a lucky break. Unfortunately for Mo, we’ve got some really top strikers, and it has been hard for him to get in. That’s why we have sent him out loan.
“He has done a job over there and he is working hard to get back into the team but I wouldn’t say he works any harder than Sami or Gary Hooper or Anthony Stokes. We all put in a good effort.”
