Juan Agudelo newsWest Ham have had Celtic target Juan Agudelo on trial at Upton Park.

The 20-year-old striker was joined in London by fellow US internationalist Graham Zusi but no deal has been put on the table.

Agudelo spent ten days with Celtic in November with Neil Lennon indicating that he would like to progress a deal.

“It was great to see how a team like that in the EPL handles themselves and how the players handle themselves,” Agudelo said. “I love that, I have that on the back of my mind.”

Agudelo has made no secret of his wish to play in Europe and isn’t expected to return to Chivas USA.

Asked about his future he admitted: “There’s nothing much that I control in the offices and such, just what I can do on the field. All I know is that I’m going to give whatever club I’m with 110 percent.”

During his time in Glasgow Agudelo was bowled over by the commitment of the Celtic support.

“I know the history, it’s basically a religion for many,” he stated.

“Just to have that there and have the support of the whole city would be lovely. Especially due to the fact they are consistently Champions League.

“Being in the group stage of the Champions League is huge. We’ll see what happens, I’d have to consider a lot of things but definitely, Celtic is a great club.”

Agudelo would need a work permit to play in the UK but as a current internationalist that should be a formality for Celtic.

  • Kendo88 says:

Hope its not the case wi this lad. But Annoys you when much smaller English clubs are more appealing all because of the league they play in. One of many reasons lawwell and desmond have got to get us out of this bigoted backwater. HH

  • Dan says:

Why would he want to play in a third rate league for Celtic if he can play for a London club in the best league in the world? West Ham are a great club with massive support, in the top ten of clubs in England.
There’s nothing to think about go to Scotland when your 35 for an easy life.

    • sands1888 says:

Your maybe right, why play for one of the most important well supported teams in the world when you can make more money and achieve zero, and be a nobody in an insignificant team in england, clown

  • Chris says:

Every young player nowadays seems to think more about money than 1st team chances, making a name for themselves etc, theyd b happier going to a relegation battling PL vlub than a scottish team all cos of wages, if he goes then he probably wouldnt have been a good fit for celtic anyway

  • I agree with Sands1888 – Celtic normally do business swiftly and effectively. Not a lot leaks out of CP these days before it’s done and if Celtic want this Guy….they’ll get him!

Best league in the world, he’s not been linked with any Spanish sides that I know of. The world’s best players play in Spain…Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi etc.

A minor London club who haven’t done anything for donkeys years, Anyone joining clearly has no European ambitions to really test themselves.

Probably sees a big payday and an easier route to the first team, less pressure as they are used to losing games. Mid table fixture filler / relegation battles are the only games to look forward too…well that and the standard gubbings from the top half of the table.

  • ben spain says:

spanish primera has two teams as for scottish preemier stok

  • JCxWHU says:

Why would he want to play against teams like Inverness and Dundee? Dream on Celtic, your team at best is a Championship side if you ever competed in England. Just look at how many ex Championship players make up your first team.

You lot live in a dream world, must be all that Glaswegian crack going to your heads.

No need to get jealous though that the young lad is coming to a bigger and better club 😉

    COYI!!!

    • Chris says:

yea ex championship players who were too good for the championship. Jealous of what? We’re in the champions league knock out stages! a bigger club? don’t make me laugh. washer

    • HoopNo7 says:

Well all i can say is if he does join the hammers then he can look forward to championship games next season pal…

Thats not because hes not a good enough player to get the goals that will keep West Ham up, its just that hes not a miracle worker that will plug the hole in your sinking ship!

Besides, I have to agree with the comments I read earlier… If Celtic wanted him, they would have acted swiftly and we would have already signed him up…

    • sands1888 says:

Nae bor son, ya wee fanny, away and lie doon

  • yogI says:

The only advantage the Hammers have is the Sky Television money, other than that they are nothing alongside us.

  • williebhoy says:

Hope he signs for West Ham….they usually take our cast offs. Big team, not even close to Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs….struggle to compete with QPR.

Fat Sam another crook, nice fit with spiv Harry…welcome to each other.

Only ambition they have is to finish in top 17, then it’s a successful season.

Can’t even ask to see your runners-up medals you don’t even win them LOL
