SFA take backseat in Ibrox investigation

|

Stewart Regan newsThe SFA have confirmed that they will wait on the outcome of an internal Ibrox investigation into links between Charles Green and Craig Whyte before they take any action on the associate membership granted to the new club.

After exhaustive talks with the football authorities a 5-way agreement was drawn up allowing Green’s club to compete in the Third Division.

The document has never been published but it’s believed that the deal was dependent on guarantees that Whyte had no role in the new club.

That undertaking was thrown into doubt when Whyte released tapes of his conversations with Green during which the big handed Yorkshireman uttered the phrase ‘You are Sevco’ to the former billionaire from Motherwell.

The SFA contacted Ibrox following the publication of the reports but are content to take a backseat allowing the club to investigate it’s own tangled ownership.

SFA Chief Stewart Regan admitted today: “We wrote to the club and expressed our concerns on a number of points related to the revelations in the press about the links between Craig Whyte and Charles Green.

“The matter was then handed over to Pinsent Masons under the stewardship of Roy Martin QC and we have agreed that we will wait until that report is concluded.

“The report is being done very much on an independent basis. The club have agreed to share the findings of that report with us so that we can get transparency on the questions that we asked.

“And until that comes out it’s probably wrong to speculate on what might or might not happen.”

No date has yet been set for the independent panel to report back on their findings into the links between Green and Whyte.

Money for old rope this mob.

    • Andybhoy says:

Aye and that old rope is being used to hang the rest of Scottish football out to dry as the SFA abandon their duties as a governing body once again. As is to be expected when the Govan club are involved the SFA are taking a back seat when they should in fact be in the driving seat conducting an investigation themselves.

It is staggering that they have not launched their own investigation and it truly beggars belief that the SFA will base their course of action on the results of an investigation carried out by the very club at the centre of the allegations.

The SFA are up to their brass necks in this whole murky affair and it seems it is just as much in their interests as it is the Ibrox outfit’s that the truth never sees the light of day.

Maybe it’s time every other football club in Scotland got together and set up their own investigation into the insidious relationship between the SFA and the Ibrox boardroom because UEFA sure as hell don’t seem to care.

  • paranoidandroid says:

I think jackmac’s said it all really, but I’d like to know why it is that Regan and the other idiots are allowed to have a secret (five way) agreement with a club that’s only an associate member. Surely, the other full members have got a right to know what went on?
The SFA is not Regan or Ogilvie; it’s all the member clubs, and it’s about time someone reminded them of that.

I just saw Regan on the news frightening off any potential sponsors by telling them that Scottish football is a shambles. I’ll be polite and just say that the guys a useless git, an embarrassment.

    bunch of clowns.

  • neil says:

about time the clubs told them where to shut it as for that English arse Regan, he’s deliberately trying to put the frighteners up everyone so Sevco get the fast track.

    No feckin chance mate

  • Guillermo says:

Leaked tape of Regan being primed by by Ogilvie prior to today’s press conference:

“Look into my eyes; not around the eyes; look straight into my eyes. You’re under.
You will NOT talk of last year’s liquidation of the old Ibrox club.
You will NOT talk of the new club Sevco having still no audited accounts.
You will NOT promote the game in Scotland until Sevco gatecrash the SPL.
You will NOT admit that, of course, any connection between Whyte and Green at Sevco would mean automatic expulsion for the new club.
Three two one. You’re back in the room.”
    (sound of clicked fingers)

The funny thing Is ,Can anyone say This didnt happen.? Nothing surprises me with that crowd.

  • Liam D says:

Why oh Why are they allowed to investigate themselves..is this a joke.?They have proved over and over they are an organisation not to be trusted. It equates to asking Dr Shipman to do an investigation into NHS waiting lists for the elderly.

  • Mike Bhoyle says:

After 50+ years of following Scottish football ….this has surely got to be the first time that the SFA have dithered ….when it comes to highlighting the Govan Club’s shortfalls….??
Never before has this august body been afraid to tackle them…regarding serious breaches of the rules.
For instance….Remember how they publicly exposed the Govan Club’s anti-Catholic policy…and demanded that they change it….?….Naw…?..Eh….well neither do I….but I’m sure they meant to.
Oh and then there was that wee man called Farry….If it wisnae for the SFA investigating him…and finding him blatantly anti-Celtic…he’d have stayed in his job… Sorry…whit’s that…?..Fergus McCann, you say , did the business here….Aye maybe so….but the SFA meant to do it as well…and they would have …except…..well never mind that….
    Anyway the point is….
When it comes to the Govan Club cheating, lying and breaking all the rules and blaming everyone else for their demise….you can sleep safely in your bed knowing that custodians of our game…
will be sleeping safely as well…’cos they know somebody else will do their job for them…again.

  • Thomas says:

Regan is machine wrecking, pull the place down and hold up Sevco as the answer!

Listen to the back gate swing shut SFA, thats Celtic leavin….

  • Rodger says:

I have said this before and I will say it again if this gets the same old cover up treatment from the SFA in cahoots with the “ibrox club, whatever their real name is” and these cheats get away with this, then its time for others to speak out. no longer should Celtic remain silent, the last bit of credibility of our now ridiculed scottish game is a stake here, and while we will rule the roost for years to come, the knock down effects of letting them get away with it will haunt us in years to come when the honest mistakes, etc etc start to happen again.
Its alright Peter Lawell saying we have our own plan in place, but morally Celtic as the leading club in Scotland have to take the lead in fighting the good fight, however upsetting it may be to the SFA and the media.

    Hail Hail

    • gorbalsbhoy says:

      Well said sir.

    • Joe says:

Everyone knows the sfa are in this up to their armpits. They claim to be taking a backseat but what they mean is they will quietly work away behind the scenes to be ready with their cover up regardless of the findings. They are corrupt. They are part of the whole fiacso which enabled a brand new club entry to the lowest league in front of many more worthy enterprises who oddly enough, followed the rules. The SFA and SPL were all involved and they both need a cleansing.

  • Paul says:

What gets oan ma tits is the fact the SFA continue to bend over and drop their trouser and expect things just to go on as usual. What’s going to end up happening is in their bid to save the chosen ones they’ll force the rest of us away.

  • eastside says:

Taking the back seat!? More like hiding in the boot with the other spare wheel!

  • KevinBarry says:

Criminals should just tell judges not to bother with a trial on the grounds that ‘ its cool I’m investigating maself ‘.

    • tom says:

exactly, its beyond belief that the SFA wait for findings that will be conducted by people appointed by Rangers. Sevco have been found to be guilty of withholding the truth for year upon end yet the SFA think they’ll just hand over any untoward evidence.

The fact is Campbell Ogilvie, the SFA and Rangers are doing whay they’ve done for years and that is, paving as smooh a path for Rangers as they possibly can. Scottish football is corrupt because of these two organisations.

As a Celtic fan I’m dissapointed that my club have allowed this to happen and now that the proof is out there they still decide to be silent instead of challenging the blatant corruption. If Fergus was still around he’d have been all over this and the SFA would have been forced to act in a proper fashion and Ogilvie would have been long gone.

  • williebhoy says:

Any independent inquiry SHOULD have been led & carried out by the SFA with total transparency to the public. If as many leaked documents indicate that Whyte & green were directly linked in forming the new club….then the SFA have only one choice to cancel their assoc. membership. This will lead to the runners-up in the Irn Bru 3rd tier demanding to be promoted. Meanwhile the SFA will receive assurances that both Whyte & Green are out of the loop and a new assoc. membership can be issued…..or the SFA will hold that they an’t be punished AFTER both men have left the club, carry on regardless…..wonder which it will be.

Let us know if your guilty lads, ok maybe a wee bit guilty and we can discuss what possible punishments we can find that are acceptable to you…………no matter they are going down the tubes AGAIN.

The world is watching SFA….Justice must not only be done, it must be SEEN to be done.

  • Bawsman says:

Guys…………don’t get riled, nothing has changed in all my years on this planet (near 56) as far as the Scottish media and the SFA’s treatment/handling of the disease from Govan is concerned, and there’s no chance of that changing.

The thing that HAS changed though is that we (the paranoid ones) now have a voice……the internet.

It might take another year but we will be looking at Third Rangers, that’s if they can muster another revival.

  • ArizonaBhoy says:

Ok so I guess the SFA think that at the end if this self proclaimed investigation they can use some kind of Jedi mind trick and tell everyone there is nothing to see here .. It’s a joke that these morons are going to bring the Scottish game down … The clubs need to grow a pair and start asking questions … Hail Hail

  • Ally says:

It’s a bit like asking a turkey to vote for Xmas isn’t it. They have broken the rules but they will investigate themselves and then tell everyone that everything is ok and there is no wrongdoing so they should be promoted straight back to the SPL. This is the biggest whitewash that has ever taken place and I am absolutely astounded that the remaining clubs in Scotland are allowing this to happen. Think it’s time that they SFA,SPL,SFL all grew a pair and stood up to the corruption that this club is inflicting on the game in our country. Shameful.
