Paul Lambert Villa newsPaul Lambert and Jose Mourinho clashed angrily after last night’s Chelsea v Aston Villa match at Stamford Bridge.

The homeside won a controversial clash 2-1 with match winner Branislav Ivanovic lucky to be on the park after being seen to elbow Villa striker Christian Benteke.

In the closing minutes Villa were denied a penalty when John Terry handled the ball with Lambert diplomatically claiming that referee Kevin Friend ‘had missed two big decisions’.

After the match smug Mourinho said: “Paul has a certain type of personality and behaviour on the pitch.

“He reminds me of myself ten years ago when I was complaining about every decision when I want to coach my team and at the same time I want to have a whistle on my lip. He is the same.

“He will change. With time and experience he will change because he complains about every, every, every decision but he is a young manager. Very intelligent. He adapts his style to the quality of his players.”

Lambert responded with: “Its easy to sit here with sour grapes but I thought my team were outstanding and we didn’t deserve to lose.

“I was proud on Saturday and I was proud last night but we have been done by two big decisions that were wrong.

“I think the referee has missed two big decisions. I don’t think you can miss big decisions like that. They are big game-changers.”

After starting the season with two tough trips to London to face Arsenal and Chelsea Villa face Liverpool at home on Saturday.

My mate was on to win £960 if Chelsea won by two clear goals needless to say he was gutted. Personally I think lambert has quite the team there and will claim some relative success this season. Benteke is a belter of a striker. If only we were signing players of this calibre. HH.

I remember when Chelsea played Barcelona and he complained about Deco diving…sure he trained Deco while at Porto. Come on the hoops, HH

Is he… Sweeney. Is he….. I’m not so sure.

Probably not…..Pyewacket. Probably not…….I’m not so sure either.

I think its fair to say that most successful managers in football depend to a certain degree on their cheque book and even M’ONs success could be put down to a degree on spending power.

At the mo we’re all bumping our gums about big Peter sitting on the Celtic ceque book.

There may be managers who do well in the transfer market on a restricted budget by having the ability to recognise talent and do well to stay mid-table epl doing just that, but any real success in football today very much depends on Saturday power and the cheque book.

I’m sure there are exceptions that prove the rule

He managed to get the best out of Porto 10 years ago but since then considering everywhere he’s been has had an open cheque book he’s not any more successful than most other top flight managers. Plus he’s a complete and total wa…… Soz had to throw that in Sweeney. HH

It’s only a game of football , surely Paul must know that referees can make honest mistakes and still be great guys ?

  • vino says:

Mourinho trained the Porto players to dive against Celtic in the Seville Final 2003 in which Celtic were robbed of the Trophy. Hail hail the Celtic.

  • Mike Bhoyle says:

Mourinho is an arrogant toss pot….
He cheated his way to the cup in Seville….
No respect for this guy whatsoever…..
