Henrik Larsson newsHenrik Larsson is facing a tough time in charge of Falkenburg as his name is being linked with the assistant manager’s vacancy at Celtic created by the departure of Johan Mjallby.

The legendary goalscorer known as the King of Kings watched his side lose 1-0 away to IFK Gothenburg on Friday as Falkenburg slumped to their fourth defeat in a row to sit third bottom of the league after six matches.

It took an 84th minute penalty from Sam Larsson to give IFK the points with Henrik finding that the game has no sympathy for legends trying to make their mark in management.

Falkenberg won promotion to the top division for the first time ever last season with Larsson aware that it would be tough going to establish the club in Allsvensken.

Looking forward to the challenge he said: “As a player I played for top clubs but as a manager I’m here at my second club, a team where nobody apart from ourselves believes we can do something.

“That is a challenge for me as a coach, and for me that’s something that I thrive on. You learn a lot about yourself when things aren’t going well. It’s always good to be the underdog.”

Falkenberg’s next match is a week on Monday at home to Gefle who have picked up five points from their first five matches.

Malmo are the early leaders in the Allsvensken with 13 points from their first five matches with Elfsborg three points behind in fourth place.
