SFAEast Kilbride chairman Mark Horner has hit out at the SFA as his side’s Scottish Cup tie with Celtic reached farcical new levels.

Shortly after their 2-0 win over Lothian Thistle to reach the fifth round of the tournament East Kilbride discovered that the Celtic match was to be played at New Douglas Park- but no one told the Accies.

Twelve days before the match is scheduled to be played the venue has still to be decided, tickets allocated and a hundred and one other tasks to be completed.

Reacting to yesterday’s news from Hamilton Horner admitted: “I’m struggling to make sense of all this now.

I can’t believe we’re this far down down the line and the venue is still up for debate. We actually sent an email to the SFA over the weekend asking them to reconsider the decision on the venue for the tie due to the demand for tickets.

Our secretary Dave McKenna sent the email and we were waiting to hear back before pressing ahead with any plans for the tie. Thankfully we hadn’t started making plans after hearing this.

I just assumed New Douglas Park was available. We didn’t think for one minute nobody at the SFA had contacted Hamilton Accies to ask if was okay.

The SFA said they would help us massively because we are the new boys. They said they would help us from A to Z in every matter whether it was ticket printiing, security or segregation. Now we have to go back to the SFA and see what’s going on.”

East Kilbride are expecting to sell close to 5,000 tickets for the match meaning that a stadium with a capacity of at least 10,000 is needed to meet demand for the match.
