Ryan Christie doesn’t want to let his second chance at Celtic slip by.

The midfielder was signed at the close of the 2015 summer transfer window with part of the deal being an instant return to Inverness Caley Thistle on loan.

A knee injury brought that arrangement to a halt with Christie moving to Celtic to complete his rehab before flitting around the edges of Ronny Deila’s plans.

A goal in the 7-0 win over Motherwell on the final day of the season laid down a marker for the new regime with the Scotland u-21 internationalist looking to be in at the heart of Brendan Rodgers’ plans.

I don’t know if it was naive of me, but I wanted to come straight here and go right in to the team,” he admitted.

I’ve had to be patient but I am really enjoying training now, the standard has been absolutely brilliant and you can see every single player is loving it.

It’s a good thing there’s a lot of competition for places. It raises the attitude of everyone in there, to try to improve and do better.”

Reflecting on the four match visit to Slovenia he added: “It’s been nice to get a run and a goal. Since we’ve come back my aim has been to impress the new manager.

It’s important to do it in training but it’s the games where it matters most, so it’s been good. I’ve been trying to add more goals to my game in the last couple of seasons.

I probably didn’t score as I would have liked at Inverness, so it was something I worked on last season.”
