It’s hard to believe but the obsessed and gullible really did think that they had Celtic on the run as recently as three months ago.

With his directors box seat and unique links with supporters there is no greater a Rainjurz man than John Brown.

Bomber is without doubt one of their own, sealing a unique bond with the people as he warned of the dangers of Charles Green with his memorable ‘Wherez the deedz’ speech outside of Ibrox.

Now that he is back inside the tent and on the payroll Bomber can be used for various purposes with the main one to help shift season tickets to help fund the income gap.

Eighteen months on from sweeping to power Dave King’s war-chest and the inheritance of his kids remain largely untouched tucked away in a bank account that no one else can reach.

With season tickets to sell and Mark Warburton out of contact range Bomber was brought in to whip up excitement less than two weeks after the Scottish Cup Final collapse to Hibs.

Rather than talk up what Rob Kiernan and Wesley Foderingham would do in the top flight Bomber turned to Celtic in his drive to get the people to invest.

I think you can see by what Celtic are doing across the city, bringing in Brendan Rodgers, they must be really worried by having Rangers back in the Premiership,” he told the Daily Record with a straight face.

Celtic have downsized the last couple of seasons. They cashed in on their big players because Rangers weren’t in the top flight.

There was only ever going to be one winner of the league when Rangers were in the lower divisions and that was Celtic.

Forget Aberdeen. Derek McInnes has done a great job but he’s not got the budget to really take it forward.

I think that Celtic have brought in Brendan Rodgers because they see a real threat in Rangers.

Celtic fans are looking to make it 10 in a row, which I don’t think they will achieve.

Rangers have been out of the league for a while and it’s been pretty easy for Celtic. Now they have brought in Rodgers to keep the momentum going.

I think he’s a very good manager. He will improve Celtic, so Rangers will have a big fight on their hands next season.”

Brown insisted Rangers will be up for the fight and added: “I don’t think it’s just me that is excited about next season, it’s the whole Rangers support.

The new manager came in and did well last year and he’s already started adding to the squad for next season.”

All of Brown’s Rangers medals were won while the club enjoyed a special relationship with Gavin Masterton at the Bank of Scotland. When Halifax took over Dave Murray switched to EBT’s to sign players his club couldn’t afford. Today’s tribute act use Metro Bank, no overdrafts or favours.
