Tony Xia has cast an incredible slur on Mark Warburton following the collapse of the transfer of Joleon Lescott to Sevco.
Aston Villa were prepared to pay the bulk of the defenders wages to get him out the door but even with that incentive the Ibrox club were unable to match the terms promised to Lescott during negotiations.
Rather than own up to the state of the company finances Warbo claimed that the deal collapsed because the player wasn’t prepared to move away from his family in Manchester.
On Tuesday the former England defender signed for AEK Athens which blew the Warburton theory out the window.
Asked about the comments from Warbo, who used to work as a city trader, Villa chief Xia didn’t shy away from the obvious conclusion.

Asked about claims from Villa that the deal broke down over personal terms Warbo erupted claiming: “Let me be really clear about this – it’s absolute nonsense.
“Personal terms were all agreed but the player just decided to keep his family in Manchester. He’s well settled with three young children.
“It’s absolute nonsense to say anything other than that. The fact he’s up here tells you that terms were agreed and there wasn’t a problem with that.
“It’s a big decision on the player’s part and we understand that. But it’s nothing to do with what I’ve read in the papers.
“We know what happened, the player knows what happened. To take your three young kids out of school is a big call on his part and we respect it. It’s unfortunate but we wish him all the best.”
With his personal integrity trashed in such a public way by Villa it seems certain that Warbo must comment to maintain his reputation
