Another fantastic week for Celtic fans was completed by The Jimmy Johnstone Story on BBC Alba last night.
The subject almost guarantees success but with so much known about the legendary Celt it is hard to come up with an original presentation of an incredible life.

All of the landmarks in Johnstone’s career were covered mainly through his family but also with some fellow Lisbon Lions and others that knew him.
There was no chronological order to the programme which touched on every aspect of the players life including his dark descent into alcoholism and the way that he faced upto Motor Neurone disease.
Willie Haughey and others described the battles, of how Johnstone read up on the illness in search of a cure and offering himself up as a guinea pig for any emerging treatment.
Johnstone’s final days were covered tastefully with his family discussing how the fight ended when he lost his voice. When his wife Agnes phoned Bertie Auld with the news she was met with silence even though it was inevitable.
The funeral scenes brought an element of closure, appreciation and celebration as thousands turned out between Viewpark and Celtic Park to honour the footballer and the man.
Online, fans were delighted by the production which added another chapter to the Celtic story.
There weren’t any new revelations in the programme but the main events were neatly stitched together alongside the commentary from his family.

Poignant Jinky documentary is surely an award contender. Captured complex human relationships supporting a flawed genius with raw honesty.
