Brendan Rodgers has brought in Jack Nayler to head up Celtic’s Sports Science department.

Nayler stepped down from a similar role at Real Madrid in 2015 after being taken to the Spanish capital by Carlo Ancelotti who he also worked with at Paris St Germain.

Rodgers and Nayler worked together at Chelsea for a brief spell with Nayler a graduate of Loughborough University.

According to his Linked In profile Nayler describes himself as: “A driven and exacting individual I believe wholeheartedly in people.

Through applying the latest in scientific thinking and expert opinion combined with my own experiences from six seasons at Champions League football clubs I work to develop and apply best practice to empower organisations and individuals to realise their potential.

My passions include strategising performance factors and the role sport can play in developing both individuals and society.

I love my work and am at home in a dynamic fast paced environment. With a positive outlook I enjoy life and look to take the most from it.”

Rodgers is a keen student of the game and has quickly put together his own backroom team to supplement the direct coaching team of Chris Davies and John Kennedy.

Glen Driscoll has been brought in as Head of Performance with former Hearts boss John McGlynn involved in a scouting and video analysis role.

Under Ronny Deila the majority of backroom roles were filled by Norwegians who left at the end of last season after the Norwegian decided to step down.
