Brendan Rodgers caught up with Neil Lennon last night but it was charity rather than Barcelona that both men were concentrating on.

The John Hartson Foundation Sportsman Dinner brought the two Irishmen together with at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel with over £40,000 raised on the night on top of ticket sales for the event.

In 2009 at the age of 31 Hartson was diagnosed with testicular cancer that had spread to his brain.

The Welshman has spoken candidly of how he was aware of something but refused to seek medical advise until it was almost too late.

Since recovering from what was diagnosed as ‘a critical condition’ and undergoing a course of chemotherapy Hartson has been a champion of the campaign against testicular cancer.

Through regular golf days, mountain climbs and sports dinners millions of pounds have been raised with awareness raised in young males about the condition.

Lennon took part in a Question and Answer session alongside Hartson while Rodgers took a back seat as he plotted a way for his side to get past Barcelona and ‘do a Lenny’ on Wednesday night.
