Kieran Tierney will complete his return to fitness in Dubai this week.

The teenage defender has been out of action for two months after suffering ankle ligament damage during training.

Before his injury Tierney had been pone of Celtic’s top performers with his partnership with Scott Sinclair growing game by game.

Emilio Izaguirre has proved to be a more than adequate replacement but when the action resumes in a fortnight’s time against Albion Rovers Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to have KT back in action.

Kieran Tierney is coming out and we will be progressing his rehab and slowly integrating him back into the training group which is really good,” assistant manager Chris Davies told the club website. “Hopefully he will be building towards full training in the next few weeks.

He has done great and it’s a credit to all the science and medical support staff because with 44 games, nine games in a month, there is a lot going on and the intensity was really high, so they have done excellently to get a near enough fully-fit squad for this break to prepare for next phase.”

In just over 50 appearances Tierney has shown that it is possible to make the transition from youth team football to the heights of playing in the Champions League.

Tierney’s last match was the 1-0 Betfred Cup semi-final win over Sevco at the end of October with the 19-year-old missing out on three Champions League matches plus the Betfred Cup Final win over Aberdeen.

During his absence he also had surgery on his shoulder.
