They were the lucky ones- the 25,000 supporters inside Hampden to see Celtic clinch the treble as the Invincibles claimed their place in the history of the club.

Once again there were rows of empty seats among the Aberdeen support but for those inside Hampden it was an afternoon to savour.

The morning sunshine gave way to pouring ran at 2pm with the match played in sunshine and showers as the hoops chased history.

When Jonny Hayes scored the opening goal there was a brief pause but normal service was resumed when Stuart Armstrong equalised shortly afterwards.

Throughout the second half the fans urged their team forward as the effects of a long demanding season looked to be taking their toll.

Scott Sinclair missed a few chances, Leigh Griffiths snatched at a couple, Patrick Roberts struck the post and Dedryck Boyata headed over from a corner.

Extra time seemed a certainty but with perfect timing and execution Tom Rogic donned his Superman outfit and tucked away the deciding goal.

After that the emotions spilled over- among the fans as well as the players- as the enormity of a treble achieved over 47 unbeaten matches sunk in before an evening, weekend and summer of celebration.
