Nadir Ciftci has had his loan spell with Pogon Szczecin cut short due to injury.

The striker failed to score in three starts for the Polish side and was recently used as a substitute.

Ciftci came close to joining Motherwell during the January transfer window but when that fell through a deal to Poland was set up instead.

Nadir Ciftci has returned to Glasgow to get treatment on an ankle injury,” Pogon manager Kazimierz Moskalleft said. “At this stage of the season, his presence for the remaining games is unnecessary.”

Ciftci was signed by Ronny Deila from Dundee United in July 2015 but found himself sent out on loan to Turkish side Eskisehirspor as the former Celtic boss turned to Colin Kazim Richards to supply goals.

Although he scored the first goal of the Brendan Rodgers era during a pre-season trip to Slovenia there has been no indications that he could fit in with the Irishman’s style of play but with two years still to run on his contract the ball is back in Celtic’s court.
