Murray’s liquidation confession

For almost two decades Dave Murray ensured that Rangers (IL) stayed among the trophies whatever it took.

In 1989 he apparently paid Maurice Johnston’s tax bill to bring him to Ibrox.

Somehow he convinced Mark Hateley to quit Monaco for life beside Loch Lomond and a return to paying tax.

When Andy Goram got done for drunk driving it was disclosed in court that his official Rangers (IL) wages were only £1,000/week which was well below the market value.

When Graham Roberts left Rangers (IL) for Chelsea there was a dispute over a property bought by the club in the deal.

Whatever it took to stay ahead of Celtic Murray did it, even when it came to denying Her Majesty revenue and custom.

With his footballing legacy sold for £1 to a former billionaire Murray is no longer the smooth operating charmer that had an answer to every problem.

Today as he attempted to trash the verdict of the Supreme Court he gave away one detail which every bampot knows off by heart.

According to The Scotsman Murray said: “The decision will be greeted with dismay by the ordinary creditors of the club, many of which are small businesses, who will now receive a much lower distribution in the liquidation of the club, which occurred during the ownership of Craig Whyte, than may otherwise have been the case.”

There you have it, even for the hard of thinking the club is being liquidated, not a company, engine room or holding vehicle. The club.

Under questioning at the Craig Whyte fraud trial Murray admitted that EBTs were introduced to allow the club to buy players that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford.

The Supreme Court casts a shadow in many directions, the prospect of a share issue to bail out the tribute act is remote.

When his obituary is penned it’s almost certain that Murray will have played a major role in the death of two clubs from Ibrox.
