Ange Postecoglou is the latest name in the Ibrox management game.

The Daily Record has picked up on a report from ESPN linking the Australian international manager with the Ibrox vacancy.

With Graham Murty leading the fourth best side in Scotland to back-to-back victories the pressure is off for now which is just as well.

Friday’s accounts stated clearly that there was no budget or allowance for a new management team while transfer business will need to be self financing.

Pedro Caixinha has still to receive his pay off.

Twelve days after Caixinha was axed the Ibrox club are no closer to naming a successor despite a sustaining campaign to unsettle Aberdeen.

Shelling out £1m compensation to a rival Scottish club is unlikely to be sanctioned by ‘penniless’ Dave King with a number of other names dropped into the mix.

Michel Preud’homme was the first exotic name linked with the job, followed by Alan Pardew and Steve McClaren while there was a bookies inspired rush of interest in Davie Moyes.

Postecoglou is likely to quit as manager of the Socceroos regardless of the outcome of the World Cup play-off with Honduras.

He is highly unlikely to be moving to Ibrox as the Murty and Kenny Miller dream-team becomes a reality.
