After a month at Ibrox Russell Martin is already obsessed by Celtic.

It must be hard to avoid when the hoops clash with Kilmarnock was being shown in the home DRESSING ROOM at Ibrox before the defeat from Hibs.

The on-loan Norwich defender will head back south of the border in three months time after a brief stint with the tribute act.

Despite never being near Celtic all season a 1-0 defeat for the hoops at Kilmarnock sent Ibrox into a frenzy ahead of the visit of Hibs.

Rather than trying to keep up with second placed Aberdeen the home fans and players were counting on six points against the Edinburgh side and away to Partick Thistle on Tuesday night.

With Celtic due at Ibrox in five weeks time the delusion calculator was in full flow with Martin joining the fun of the unlikeliest of title charges.

It’s a missed opportunity – 100 percent,” he told the Daily Record. “We were aware of that. It (Kilmarnock v Celtic) was on in the dressing room.

We knew we had a big chance there to gain some points and we haven’t taken it. We also let Hibs get a bit closer to us. Now it is about how we bounce back on Tuesday.

We have to make sure we pull away from Hibs again and make sure we are in a position where we can overtake Aberdeen at some point.

We didn’t start the game well enough, that’s for sure. I think we got a grip of it in the last 15 minutes of the first half and the second half was really how it should be here.

We just kept recycling. It was attack after attack. We dominated in their half, we dominated the ball. We showed what we are about much more in the second half but it was frustrating.

When we equalised we thought there was only one winner coming – yet straight away we went and conceded a penalty.

It was disappointing but we showed some character in the second half, we showed much more what we are about. In the first half we just couldn’t get to grips with the game.

Credit to them, they came and done a job on us but we needed to get to grips with it earlier, we didn’t and it cost us.”

Before joining Sevco on loan Martin’s last appearance for Norwich had been in August with Grant Handley taking his place in the side.
