Brendan Rodgers has warned Steven Gerrard that his sleeping hours is about to be drastically reduced.

The former Liverpool skipper is expected to be announced as the new manager of Sevco this afternoon following the sacking of Graeme Murty.

Two years ago Rodgers took over from Ronny Deila and had to assess a squad of players during the pressure of Champions League qualifiers.

Gerrard won’t have any Champions League qualifiers to worry about but will have to get rid of at least a dozen players while trying to bring in his own men backed up by the promises of a glib and shameless liar.

Murty’s last match in charge was a 5-0 defeat to Celtic with the first derby match of next season bringing together a former Liverpool captain against his ex-manager.

Gerrard is expected to get a three year contract at Ibrox, the same as Pedro Caixinha and Mark Warburton, with Gary McAllister as his assistant.
