Kenny Miller believes that he’d have put up a better challenge to Celtic than Graeme Murty!

The striker was suspended by Sevco over an incident at the end of the 4-0 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat from Celtic at Hampden.

Last week the Ibrox club announced that he had been fined two weeks wages for the dressing room incident with Miller who is now out of contract.

Under Mark Warburton the veteran striker was allowed to coach the Development League starlets but was clearly upset that he was twice overlooked for the caretaker manager role as Murty stepped in after Warbo and Pedro Caixinha were sacked.

Speaking to The Sun Miller’s agent Dave Baldwin said: “Management is something that has always appealed to him and he could be a player/manager next season.

We’d need to ensure that the situation was right for him but I’ve represented top managers and I’ve no doubt that Kenny could become one.

He has all the attributes you need — he ticks all the boxes. He’s shrewd tactically and has an easy way with players, especially younger ones.

During his time at Rangers, he would spend time on the training pitch helping explain things to them.

Kenny has the drive and the desire to be successful in whatever he does and I’m sure that if he’d been appointed Rangers’ manager for six months they could have had a better end to the season.”

Any manager prepared to take on Miller as a player knows that they are likely to be recruiting their successor.

Last season the former Vancouver Whitecaps star started 18 matches and scored four goals.

After grabbing the armband from Graham Dorrans during the 2-0 defeat from Celtic in September Miller was dropped from the first team squad by Caixinha.

When Murty was brought baxk in as caretaker he restored Miller to the team and made him captain but the relationship was clearly over by the time of the dressing room incident at Hampden.
