Marvin Compper won’t be in the Celtic squad that flies to Norway tomorrow to face Rosenborg.

The defender played for 45 minutes in the friendly against Standard Liege but has been missing since then with an abductor injury.

With Jozo Simunovic suspended and World Cup duo Dedryck Boyata and Mikael Lustig unavailable Brendan Rodgers is down to bare essentials in defence with Kris Ajer and Jack Hendry.

Compper was signed from RB Leipzig in January with the brief being to add some experience to the Celtic defence in the Champions League qualifiers.

Simunovic and Lustig are expected to be available for the third round qualifiers against AEK Athens if Celtic progress past the Norwegians.

Leigh Griffiths and Jonny Hayes are expected to be in the squad that travels to Norway although neither player is expected to make the starting XI for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Celtic take a 3-1 lead into Wednesday’s match, the loser of the tie faces Cork City in a Europa League play-off.
