After two seasons involved in various derby skelpings Patrick Roberts enjoyed today’s action from a distance.

As Kieran Tierney and his other pals faced up to the Gerrard Revolution the on-loan Girona winger was keeping up with events from his new apartment in the Catalan sunshine.

Roberts was in action for his new club on Friday night in the 1-0 win away to Villarreal and will soon be making a return trip to the Nou Camp.

With two years left on his Manchester City contract he’ll be looking to make a big impression in La Liga which should give his skills a better platform than the rigours of the English Premier League.

Huddersfield Town were very keen on taking him on loan from the Etihad but that deal fell through on the eve of the English transfer window closing.

As he watched from the sunshine his old club enjoyed a 1-0 derby day success over the tribute act.
