Rodgers forced into change

Brendan Rodgers has a number of options for the one enforced change in his side to play Kilmarnock today.

Olivier Ntcham’s red card at St Mirren will force a change today with the Frenchman a fixture in the side since the start of the season- and also the top scorer in the SPFL.

Youssouf Mulumba would be an obvious, direct replacement but the midfielder hasn’t played a minute of competitive football this season and although Rugby Park is a familiar ground putting him in from the start could be risky.

Putting Callum McGregor back beside Scott Brown is a more likely option with either Scott Sinclair or Lewis Morgan coming in to play on the left.

Explaining his options to The Sun Rodgers said: “Youssouf hadn’t played or trained when he first came in, but he’s been here for a while now and adjusted to how we work.

We have to make sure the team is fresh in every game we play. I’m sure there will be changes for Kilmarnock and more for midweek.

Lewis Morgan isn’t far away. He’s looked really good, really strong and dynamic. He’s hungry to play.”

Morgan did get 90 minutes for the reserves against Aberdeen on Monday but is likely to have to settle for a place on the bench with Wednesday’s Betfred Cup tie at St Johnstone for his first Celtic start.
