Dave King has scored another unfavourable result with Sports Direct adding another £400k in costs to his on-going battle with Mike Ashley.

In July, at the height of the marching season, Sevco were marched into court after they tried to set up an alternative retail and distribution contract with a third party for their new Hummel kit.

The Judge put a halt to that wheeze denying loyal bears from kitting themselves and Billy Junior out in the orange taps that had excited the gullible all summer.

At the end of September Sevco started selling the Hummel kit through a few outlets despite failing to come to an agreement with Sports Direct.

Mike Ashley’s firm lost out on the lucrative exclusive nature of cashing in on the blue pound with further court action called two weeks ago.

Today STV have reported:

Mr Justice Teare said Rangers had lost and would therefore pick up all lawyers’ bills during the latest round of litigation.

Lawyers told him Sports Direct had spent about £280,000 and Rangers about £147,000.

The judge said legal bills would be assessed in detail before Rangers paid the full amount.

He said it might be argued Sports Direct’s bills were “high or possibly unreasonably high”.

Rangers made a deal relating to replica kit sales in June 2017.

The club then entered into a new agreement with a firm called the Elite Group in September 2018.

Sports Direct bosses said Rangers were in breach of the agreement made with them, which was disputed by the club.

King paid out £3m in June 2017 to cancel the previous deal with Sports Direct but the new deal negotiated by some right good blue noses appears to be even worse than the contract agreed by Gallant Profiteer Charles Green in 2012.

Another £400,000 hole in the accounts coupled with the loss of retail income won’t look good in the 2018/19 accounts which will include the cost of Stevie Gee and his dream team.

Sevco have still to publish their accounts to June 2018 which will include the costs and pay off’s for Pedro Caixinha’s dream team.

Meanwhile wee Billy is unlikely to get an orange tap for Christmas unless Santa Claus stops off in Turkey before dispatching gifts to Kilwinning, Bearsden and Larkhall.
