Mikey Johnston had to be replaced at half-time today during Celtic’s 4-1 win over Dundee United in the Reserve League.

The teenager has been troubled by hamstring injuries with his previous appearance coming as a 72nd minute substitute in the 5-0 first team win over Hearts on November 3.

Johnston will be assessed over the next couple of days but it seems unlikely that he will be available for first team action until after the winter break.

Celtic took the lead in the 32nd minute when former Partick Thistle defender Frederic Frans headed a Scott Robertson corner into his own net.

Three minutes later Tony Ralston doubled Celtic’s lead, scoring against the club that he spent time on loan at last season.

Armstrong Oko Flex replaced Johnston at the interval but it was United who scored next, pulling a goal back through Archie Thomas six minutes after the restart.

Jack Aitchison ensured that there was no comeback with goals in the 60th and 78th minutes to give Tommy McIntyre’s side a convincing victory..

CELTIC: Hazard; Ralston. Welsh, Duffy, Church; Bell., McInroy,Robertson, Henderson; Johnston (Oko Flex 46), Aitchison
