Greek website Gazetta is the source of Celtic’s interest in Omar Elabdelawi.

Most of the Scottish titles have picked up on the story this morning with the Olympiakos right-back earmarked to fill a problem position.

There has been various reports of Celtic being keen on Atalanta’s Belgian internationalist Timothy Castagne but with a price tag in the region of £6-10m that deal seems less likely.

Gazetta reports:

According to information from the Island and the team of Celtic, it is reported that Omar Elabdelawi has a goal.

It all seems Greek to me and all that but the 27-year-old certainly fits the profile of a Celtic signing with a fee of £4m towards the top end of Celtic’s budget.

Elabdelawi is in his fifth season with Olympikos but did have a brief spell on loan at Hull City three seasons ago where he was a team-mate of Andy Robertson.

With 34 caps for Norway he has vast experience and could turn out to be the perfect compliment to Kieran Tierney on the other side of defence.
