Four months after leaving Dundee Steven Caulker remains a free agent.

Swedish side Ostersunds FK were linked with the former Spurs defender last month but the 27-year-old has still to commit himself to a deal.

Caulker was a surprise signing for Dundee in February, after half a dozen games Neil McCann claimed that he had turned down a £1m bid from Rosenborg for his new centre half.

Since Brendan Rodgers spoke in glowing terms of the player that he took on loan to Swansea and Liverpool there has been speculation that the two men would be reunited but so far that hasn’t come to pass.

Six years ago Caulker was being tipped for a lengthy international career but a series of personal problems put a halt to those ambitions.

Central defence has been a problem area for Rodgers since he arrived at Celtic with January 2018 signings Jack Hendry and Marvin Compper likely to be offloaded this month.

Caulker made a decent impression during his six month stint at Dundee, if his personal issues have been resolved being reunited with Rodgers would be the ideal platform to relaunch his playing career.
