Lennon’s fourth deal expected to go through today

Hatem Abd Elhamed has been granted a work permit and is just a medical away from completing his £1.6m move to Celtic.

The 28-year-old has been used mainly in central defence by Hapoel Be’er Sheva but seems to be a contender for Celtic’s problem right-back position.

Luca Connell, Christopher Jullien and Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo have been signed so far with the Israeli expected to become the third defender to join Celtic this summer.

Leicester’s Danny Simpson had been expected on loan at Lennoxtown but as he explained why that wouldn’t be taking place Lennon revealed a detail about the Elhamed move to the Daily Record:

That [Simpson] is not happening. We are down the line with one player, so he is going through the medical process. We got the work permit yesterday so Hatem is doing the paperwork ?and medical in Paris as ?we speak.”

Celtic had until 11pm last night to add any new players to their squad to face Nomme Kalju but that deadline passed without any signings.

Elhamed could make his Celtic debut at right-back against St Johnstone on August 3 in order to have some game time ahead of the third round of European competition.
