One international friendly is being virtually ignored this week by the Scottish media.
The build up and anticipation was comprehensive but Algeria’s 3-0 win yesterday over Colombia has barely rated a mention in the fanatical Scottish media despite a 69 minute appearance of Alfredo Morelos. Andres Ibarguen of Mexican side America replaced the shot shy former HJK Helsinki starlet.
It was a fifth part international appearance for Morelos who failed miserably to impress watching scouts from China, Turkey, Italy, Germany, England and Mexico.
Almost every move that Morelos makes is headline news. Apparently he is a new, mature restrained player this season after getting a translation of some information from Steven Gerrard.
At the end of last season he was left out of the 40 man Colombian squad for the Copa America but his sparking pre-season form earned him a recall.
On Saturday he came off the bench in the 0-0 draw against Chile, returning to Ibrox with two more international caps from friendly matches and no nearer a goal or escape out of Scotland.
Meanwhile Lawrence Shankland and Stuart Findlay boast 100% international scoring records.
